Day 4 | Activity 1: Making A Racket

This week for day 4, activity 1 of week 1 for SLJ, we watched a video about Venus and Serena William. Venus and Serena William, are American professional tennis players, who have won a few titles. After we watched the video, we created a DLO explaining three facts we've learnt and one thing we would like to know. I also decided to include a short paragraph of who Venus and Serena is.

  1. Kia Ora Sakina,

I’m Dani, one of the blog commenters for the Kaikohekohe cluster for the Summer Learning Journey. I have heard some great things about the students at Panmure Bridge School so I thought I would jump on and check out some blog posts.

Wow both Serana and Venus Williams have some amazing accomplishments during their tennis careers. I was also curious about when they started playing tennis so I have done some research and I found out that their parent’s starting coaching Serena in tennis when she was just three years old! Their parents must be very proud of both sister’s achievements during their tennis careers. Do you play any sports? I play indoor netball and I am going to start playing hockey again in 2020.

I just wanted to let you know that this is the last day that all of the blog commenters are working for 2019! We are all taking some time to hang out with whanau and to celebrate the holidays. But everyone will be back on January 6th so keep blogging and we can read them when we get back!

I hope I get to read more of your blog posts soon,

    Dani

  2. Hello Sakina! Tennis is a great sport, and Venus and Serena Williams became some of my favorite players just from doing this activity! But my favorite sport personally would have to be Volleyball. What about you? Good job!

  3. Hi Sakina,
Your poster on Serena and Venus Williams is great. I think that they are both good tennis players and they have shown that by winning a lot of tennis awards. Do you find them role models of yours? Which Olympics did they win gold at? Keep up the good work.
