Cybersmart Screencastify

Today was our first day back to school from our second distance learning lockdown. We started our day with creating a screencastify that explains how to navigate your way to a juniors class site. First we wrote down on a piece of paper of what we would explain to the parents to help them get to the school and class site. We then wrote our script and practiced what we were going to say.

Haylee, Florence and I have all worked together to get this screencastify completed.

Then Vs Now | Gourds

This week for cyber smart, we used our smart searching skills and to find out about gourds and how polynesian explorers used gourds on their travel. In our smart searching skills, we used keywords, phrases, skimming and scamming, ctrl f and select or reject. After we learnt about gourds, we created a DLO about how people used gourds in the past versus now and what a gourd is. We worked in groups and collaborated. we was working with Lily, Ong and Afa. Something we found interesting, was that today, people use gourds as utensils and decorations.

Activity 1: The Social Network

This week for day 5, activity 1 of teaser week for SLJ, we created a DLO based on 5 cyber smart rule while on social media. Taheesha and I worked together to create this DLO. One of the important rules of being cybersmart on social media is to not share any personal information or photos to strangers. These rules are very important while on social media, which is why we should be cyber smart. 

Blogpost Blurb|Analysing

LI: To analyse our own blog post blurbs. This week for cybersmart we analysed our blog post blurbs. First we chose a blogpost of our own. Then we took a screenshot of our blurb. After that, we wrote down the blogpost blurb needs and the unwants. I decided to highlight the needs and unwants, so that I could highlight my blurb with the needs and unwants. It was very easy to analyse my blurb.

Cybersmart|Smart Surfing

LI: To recall how to surf the internet safely. This week for cybersmart we learnt about smart surfing. First we went on a game called "FBI | Safe Online Surfing". For the game we had to answer safe online surfing questions. There were different grades we could go on. There were 7 activities to play.  After we played the game we went on a google form and made a quiz about smart surfing. I decided to make ten questions for other people to answer. Smart Media|Media is a Construction

LI: To identify gimmicks used to attract and persuade people to purchase products. This week for cybersmart we had to finish of the last three slides of the google slide. First we started off with the co co crunch. We had to include the creator of the product, the purpose and what the creators believed about their product and what the customers think. After that we had to write down the construction in school. We had to include the creator of the product, the purpose and some ways to attract the audience. Lastly we had to do the same thing, but instead of construction in school it was construction by yourself. We had to add the same things.

This week for commenting I decided to comment on Karlos's blog. The connection that we made was that we both did the reading task. I think Karlos did a fantastic job. I liked the way he explained what he did for reading and how he added a LI:. I also liked the way he added a DLO of what he did and a story that was similar to the story Spark. I just wanted to know if Karlos found it hard to do the reading task. I had fun commenting.

Smart Media|Co-Co Crunch Gimmicks

LI: To identify gimmicks used to attract and persuade people to purchase products. This week for cybersmart we had to make a DLO of the gimmicks of the cereal co-co crunch. First we had to tell what media is, the purpose and what construction is. Media is a source of information and is when we communicate with other people on the internet. The purpose of media is to communicate and share information about things or people. Construction is making something like building. After that we had to go on a site. For the site we had to create a advert for Co-Co Crunch cereal. We had to pick five gimmicks/tricks. The gimmicks/tricks were themes, mascots, catchy phrases, activities and contests. Once we did that we had to make the DLO of the gimmicks/tricks.

This week for commenting I decided to comment on Chris's blog. The blog post that I commented on was Tengu's Lessons. The connection Chris and I had was that we both did the reading task. I think that Chris did a fantastic job at doing the reading task. I liked the way he explained what he did for the reading task. I also liked the way he made a DLO that teached us the lessons of tengu and a summary of some of the tengu stories. Word Cloud

LI: To make a word cloud that describes our blog. This week for cybersmart we had to make a word cloud that describes our blog. First we had to tell the portrays of the warehouse ad, the kiwi kids news article and the incredible me 2 trailer. After that we had to fix our word clouds of our friends and families and our blog. Once we did that we had to make a word cloud that describes our blogs. Some of the words that I used to describe my blog was smart, awesome and amazing. This week for commenting I decided to comment on Chris's blog. The blog post that I commented on was Adding Fractions. The connection we had was that I did the same maths task. I liked the way he added a DLO of what he did. I also like the way he explained what he did. I just wanted to know if he found it easy adding fractions. I think that Chris did a amazing job. LI: To identify the purpose of the information presented in media./LI: To understand that media is made for a purpose. This week for cybersmart we had to make a copy of a google slide. First we had to watch two videos and one article. Then we had to tell each other what the portray was. After that we made a copy of the google slide. We had to find a photo that was suitable for our blog and our friends and family. Once we did that we had to make word clouds and we had to describe what our personalities looked like. Smart Media- What Is Media?

LI: To identify what media is. This week for cybersmart we had to make a copy of a google slide. First we got into groups of three or pairs. In my group I had Sandra and Alice. Then we made a copy of a google slide. In the google slide we had to write down what media is, create a definition of media, create a detailed definition of media, media that our class has used and our own media that we have used. There was two videos to help us create the definition. Media is a source of information for example the TV. Media is also when we communicate with each other on the internet, apps, in person and more. Some examples of media is the internet, devices, the TV, the radio and more. One of the media our class has used was a netbook and some of the media that I have used for the past 24 hours was a google doc, gmail and youtube.

Netiquette Rules

LI: To interact online in a kind, positive and helpful way. This week for cybersmart we were learning about netiquette. First we had to watch a video about netiquette. Then we had to  get into a group of three and go on a google slide that was on the LS1 site. Then we had to write down netiquette do's and don'ts. As a class we had to say some netiquette rules to Mr. Wong. After we did that we had to make our own google draw and write down the netiquette rules. Netiquette is when you use the internet correctly when you are online.

Retail Shopping & Online Shopping Advantages

LI: To identify retail outlets and their online equivalents for consumer goods./ LI: To identify advantages in shopping in-person and online. This week for cybersmart we had to tell the retail shopping advantages and online shopping advantages to Mr. Wong. First we had to get into groups and tell Mr. Wong the shopping in person advantages and the online shopping advantages. Then we had to go on coggle and write down the advantages for shopping in person and the advantages for online shopping.

Smart Searching Skills

LI: To use keywords to search for information suitable for the purpose and reading level. This week for cybersmart we had to use our smart searching skills to search for information to complete one of the inquiry tasks. First we had to find out how venus fly traps show sensitivity. We did this with Mr. Wong. We had to get into our inquiry groups and write down keywords to find out how venus fly traps show sensitivity. We had to tell Mr. Wong the sites we found about the venus fly traps. Once we did that we had to make a DLO. I decided to make a google draw. For the google draw we had to take a screenshot of the search results and we also had to record the keywords.

Information about Anpanman

LI: To priortise task and collaborate to complete a job on time. This week for cybersmart we had to make a DLO about Anpanman or Doraemon. First we had to get into groups of 4 or 5. I worked with Farzana, Pua, Florence and Afatia. Then we had to make a google docs. For the google docs we had to make a planning. We had to write down who was doing each question on the LS1 site. Once we did that we had to show the teacher. After that we had to make a DLO about Anpanman or Doraemon. The character that we chose was Anpanman. The DLO that we did was a google slide. For the google slide we had to find out what Anpanman is, what his skills are, who is his friends, what they believe in, what is his main goal, who invented him, when was his first appearance and what was the first medium they appeared in. We had to use the searching skills to find out things about Anpanman. We had to make sure we had photos and video for our google slide. We collaborated because we all helped each other and we talked to each other on how to finish the DLO more quickly. We prioritised because we made a google doc of which question is most important.
