Robotics At Tamaki College

LI: To learn how to define codes to shorten the sequence.

This week in robotics, we learnt how to define codes, to make our sequence shorter. We used our knowledge from the last time we made a figure of 8, and made our codes shorter, by defining it. We tried to create a code to follow the black lines of a figure of eight. I did have some technical difficulties and tested out different codes. I also tested out my code to see if it would create a figure of 8. At the end I finally made my mbot to create the shape I wanted.

LI:To learn how to figure out the binary of numbers.

This week in Robotics, we looked at binary. Binary is a technique of counting and means two, which are used by computers since they are made of switches that are turned off and on. Usually we're used to counting in decimals, meaning ten. To learn how to find out the binary of numbers, we went outside and did an activity. We also played binary games, so we could understand it more. After that, we made a copy of a google slide and wrote binary's of numbers, our names and a message in binary. I really enjoyed figuring out the binary of numbers.

LI: To learn how to code an m-bot to sense something, by using the force.

This week at Tamaki College, we did robotics with Miss Ferguson. First we learnt what sonic and ultrasonic meant. Sonics means sound waves, and ultrasonic means a soundwave that can't be heard by humans. In robotics, we focused on the ultrasonic sensor and codes to code our m-bot to sense our hand, so it goes to the other direction, by using force. We went onto mblock to figure out the sequence. Once figuring out the sequence we wrote down the input, algorithm and output of our sequence, and took a video to show how our m-bots react to the sequence. I really enjoyed coding our m-bots.

LI: To learn how to code a Mbot to create a square.

This week at Tamaki College, we did robotics with Miss Ferguson. We used the app Mblock to code our Mbot to create a square. We used our knowledge from our last sessions of robotics, to code. First, we tried to figure out how to code our Mbot to move forward and turn right. Then we repeated those codes on the Mblock app. Once we figured out how to create a square, we added music, blinks and a little victory dance. We tested our Mblocks to see if we created a square. I really enjoyed coding my Mbot to create a square.

This week in tech for robotics we learnt how to code the number 8 using our m bots. There was sheet of the number 8, we could use to see if our m bots made an 8 and so our m bots could follow the line. I successfully made the code, so I recorded it. We coded 8, so we could practise since we will be coding our initial for the next few weeks. After coding and testing the number 8 we tried a different code, so when we put our hand in front of the m bot it goes backwards and if we put our hand behind our m bot, it will go forward.

This week in tech, for robotics we wrote a code to make the letter D. Before coding, we did a kahoot about coding. When we started coding, we tested it to see if we created the letter D. There were many mistakes in my code, to make D but I still tried and I finally made D. After making the code, I recorded it. Next week we will code our initials.

This week in tech for robotic, we wrote a code, for our mbots to create a circle, a figure of eight and our initials. When we created our codes, we tested it, to see if it was the correct code. If there were a few mistakes we changed our codes. To practise how to write our initials, using the mbot, we first started with D and M, because they were one of the easiest letters to code.
