Staying Safe Poster

LI: To make a poster for kids to learn about staying safe or making right decisions

Today for inquiry I learnt to make a poster for kids, so that they can learn about staying safe or making right decisions. I had to get in a partner. My partner was Florence. We worked together to make the poster. We decided to write 5 facts about staying safe or making right decisions. We had to choose which title we could do. We chose to do staying safe because that was probably the easiest one for us. I learnt this by going on the class site and seeing what the inquiry task is. This task was fun to do because you could add pictures and write down 5 staying safe facts. We wrote our names at the bottom left corner and we wrote the attributions on the bottom right corner. 

Raz Kids- Leap Year Birthday

This book is about a boy called Leroy and he thinks he is a time traveler but he is not. He tells his frineds that he is 2 but he is actually 8. He thinks that he is 2 because his birthday is on Leap Year. No one remembered that Leroy's birthday was today. Leroy asked his mum if she had a time traveled book but she didn't, so Leroy's mum said if Leroy wanted to go to the library. He said yes. At the library Leroy asked the libarian Mrs. WillowBark if she has any time travel book. She did have time travel books but she tried something different. Mrs. WillowBark told Leroy's mum to be the sun and Leroy being the earth. Mrs. Willowbark told Leroy to spin around the sun. Mrs. Willowbark said everytime the earth goes around the sun 1 day passes. Once Leroy's mum and Leroy returned home his friends were waiting for Leroy streamers and party hats. His friends shouted happy birthday and they didn't forget. 

Ducks overboard

I think the main idea of this text is that a lot of rubber ducks were lost overboard because of the cargo boat getting caught by a storm. Scientists have been following the rubber duck to understand more about how the ocean currently works.

One example of a supporting detail is the rubber ducks travel to far places like Antarctica, United States or even Australia.

Another example of a supporting detail is if you find at least 1 rubber duck that says the first years  you will get 100 dollar from the US and a lot of rubber ducks will be floating around rubbish.

It is clear that the main idea is A lot of rubber ducks were lost overboard because of the cargo boat getting caught in a storm and then all of the rubber ducks floating around the ocean for a long time. Because it talks about how the rubber ducks were floating around the ocean for scientist to understand more about how the ocean works.

LI:To identify the main ideas in a text

For writing this week I had to read 2 texts and 1 youtube video. After that I had to write what I think the main idea is, giving 2 examples of what the supporting detail is, what you think the actual main idea is and why you chose it. I learnt this by going on the class site and finding what the task is. I also learnt this by watching and reading the video and the texts. This quite hard and a little bit easy to do.

20 Persuasive Words

LI: What is persuasion/ LI: To show what we already know about the purpose and language of advertising.

For writing I learnt what persuasion means and how to use wordle or tagul. I had to list 20 persuasive words. After you put on 20 persuasive words you change the shape, the fonts, layout, colors and the animation. I learnt this by going on the LS1 site and seeing what the task for writing is. I also learnt this by going on tagul and adding some words and the fonts and other things. This task was easy and fun to do. My favourite persuasive word is Attractiveness.

Shapes

LI:To learn about three dimensional shapes' names and their properties
For maths I learnt to learn about 3 dimensional shapes, the proper names of 3D shapes and their properties. I had to choose 2 3D shapes and tell some information about them on a google slide. For example a cube has 8 vertices. This task that I had to do was quite easy because all you do is tell facts about 3D shapes and take a picture to add arrows with a box that says vertices or edges or even faces. I learnt the information about the 2 3D shapes by researching or just write some facts down that I know.

Kiwi Can: Emotions

 

 

LI: To learn how to Share and act out different emotions.We learnt how to express different emotions we feel and give our ideas on what we think on how and why we can feel different emotions.In Kiwi Can we played 2 games. We were learning about emotions and feelings. The first games was emotional instrument. For this game we were split into 4 groups. In my group I had Raera, Lukah, Charlize, and Juel, but to show that we had a group of four we took the photo with, Nyjah and Chavda. We were given a emotion and had to act it out while playing an instrument then let the other teams guess. The second game was called emotional statue. We got into pairs. My pair was Victoria. For the first round we had to choose a person to be the creator and the other person to be the statue. For the first round I was the statue, and Victoria was the creator. The creator had to move around the statue to make them seem as if they are feeling an emotion. The first emotion was angry. This is the position and face Victoria put me in - (Photo). Then the second emotion was sad. This is the position and face I put Victoria in. The chant we learnt was - Kiwi can says… Emotions are what we feel, so let others know, what’s the deal :)

Winter Learning Journey- Day 7, Bonus activity

For this activity I had to write a description about this week. ( What I have learned, what I liked about this trip and what I didn't like about this trip.)

I have learnt a lot of things about New Zealand during the past 7 days of fun activities. I learnt that there are a lot of beautiful places around New Zealand. I also learnt that some people like to put rubbish in the bin to keep their area clean and some people don't like to put rubbish in the bin because they kind of want to keep their area dirty. I really liked how I used my imaginations to travel around new places. It was like I was already at that new place I haven't been to before. The list just goes on and on of new and beautiful places. I had a really great time going on a awesome kiwi road trip!!

Winter Learning Journey- Day 7, Activity 2

For this activity I had to take a picture of myself doing something relaxing. I find reading really relaxing so I took a photo of myself reading. The book that I was reading was Infinity Ring Book 4.

Winter Learning Journey- Day 7, Activity 1

For this activity I am walking around Taupo and I find out that there is rubbish in the footpath and in the lake. I have to come up with 3 I would do to make my neighborhood a lot more beautiful.

1. If I see a piece of rubbish or a lot of rubbish I would pick it up. 

2. I would put signs around saying pick up rubbish.

3. I would talk to a couple of people about rubbish and force them to pick at least 5 pieces of rubbish.

Winter Learning Journey- Day 6, Bonus activity

For this activity I made a list of my choice on the best hakas from the All Blacks. Then I had to choose if the first video was the best or the second video was pretty good or the third one was horrible. This was a very easy task to do.

Winter Learning Journey- Day 6, Activity 2

For this activity I had to choose 3 events and talk about them. This is probably the easiest activity I have done. At first it was hard but then I said to myself that I can do it. Remember don't give up on anything even if it is your dream.


1.  Oktoberfest-  Oktoberfest is a event that is held in Munich, Bavaria and Germany. It is on Saturday the 9th of September.

2. Rio Carnival- Rio Carnival is a event help every year before Lent and considered on the biggest carnival in the world with 2 million people per day on the streets.

3. St. Patrick's Day- St. Patrick's Day is a event that celebrates Saint Patrick's death. His death was on Saturday the 17th of March.

Winter Learning Journey- Day 6, Activity 1

As the wind blew my face off. The beautiful view made my eyes still. The birds flying around me.As I get nervous at once. Making me run. The land had flowers and many. As the group and I walk and walk. Seeing beautiful things. The camera snaps. As the photos are taken. As the air blows the waka. I then get exited as I feel the waka. As the cloud surrounds the sky. I start to feel the memory's. Leaves fall from the native trees. The group smile's happily. As pieces of grass fly away. As I see the beautiful houses swept away. I am back at last. Everything was perfect. This was already a new home to me.

For this activity I had to write a poem about me arriving at New Zealand and telling my first feelings. This was pretty easy for me to do. One of the things I liked in my poem was Everything was perfect.

Winter Learning Journey- Bonus activity

For this activity I have to choose whether I want to cycle to the Otago Rail Trail one day or not. I also have to say if it sound line fun or not and Why or why not.

I would like cycle to Otago Rail Trail one day because it sound like fun and I can travel to a new place I haven't been to before. It also sound like fun because if I was already there it would be like a long wide bridge where my friends and I would have a race and it would be a lot of fun.

Winter Learning Journey- Day 5, Activity 2

For this activity I had to pick a famous New Zealander and tell facts about her by searching on google. I chose to do Rachel Hunter. One thing about her is that she is 47 years old. There was 2 other famous New Zealanders I was going to do but I chose Rachel Hunter because she looked interesting and I think I'm starting to be one of her fans.

Winter Learning Journey- Day 5, Activity 1

For this activity I have to try to pretend that I got lost in a forest myself. I have to write  (8-10 sentences) about what might happen after/next.

It was a sunny day. I was enjoying the nice view of the forest, but then I realized that I have gotten lost. I try to find help, but I can't. I was screaming for help. I only had a sandwich and water. It was really hard finding food and more water since I drank and ate it all. I walked further,but then I decided to take a rest and sleep. 2 hours later I woke up from a strange noise calling my name. I get up and walk all the way where the noise was. It was the rest of the group calling my name.

Winter Learning Journey- Day 4, Bonus activity

For this activity I had to make a choice about people fishing at the Farewell Spit. I think we should band people from fishing at Farewell Spit. A lot of Hector's dolphins are dying each year because of people throwing fishing nets in the ocean so that the Hector's Dolphins die. What did Hector's Dolphins ever do to us. They didn't harm us or hurt us. This is why we should band people from fishing at the Farewell Spit.

Winter Learning Journey- Day 4, Activity 2

For this activity I had to watch a movie trailer called Whale Rider. Then I had to summaries what the movie trailer was about.

This movie is about a girl's twin brother who was about to become the next chief of the tribe but then he dies at birth. Only males could become chiefs for the tribe. The custom was changed after the girl's twin brother died and the girl was still alive. I give this movie trailer a 5 out of 5 because I really want to see what happens in the whole movie.

Winter Learning Journey-Day 4, Activity 1

1. The local people tried to put wet cloths and towels on the whales.

2. They put a lot of water in buckets and wet them to keep the whales alive.

3. They gather a lot of bottles or buckets and stuff then puts water in it to keep the whales safe.


For this activity I had to write down 3 things what local people do to keep the whales nice and safe. I got these things from going on Farewell Spit. Whales got stuck on the beach and got dry. The local people tried a lot to keep them alive and safe.

Winter Learning Journey-Day 3, Activity 2

I think it is a bad  to free the predators. Here are 3 reasons of why I chose to not let the predators free.


1. The predators damage precious native trees.

2. The predators might kill or eat the native animals.

3. The predators might even damage the farm.



For this activity I had to give 3 reason why I chose to agree to let the predator stay and kill them or not to agree and let them go. I chose to let them stay in there cages because they will damage everything that is good.

For this activity I had to choose a pet to adopt. . These are some facts bout them.

Animal's Name- Morepork
Moreporks are nocturnal. They hunt at night for large invertebrates including beetles, weta, moths and spiders. They also hunt for birds, rice and mice. Moreporks eat a variety of food but they focus on insects like weta, huhu beetles, moths,spiders and cicadas. They also eat rice and mice. They also catch roosting birds at night when they sleep. They live in plantation forests.

Winter Learning Journey-Day 2, Activity 1

For this activity I had to travel to Rangitoto , Karekare and Tane Mahuta. The place I mostly enjoyed was Rangitoto because it had a nice view of the beach and the volcano which was far away. When I first saw the picture I felt the nice breeze brushing my hair like I was there.

For this bonus activity I had to make my own flag. The red and white four leaf clover represents the outline of the star and the color of the inside of the star. The other white represents the Southern Cross that has some white on.

Asking 5 questions to the main characters

LI: To interact and comprehend a range of narrative texts
This week for reading we had to choose a activity from the follow ups and do it. I chose to do Asking 5 questions to the main characters. I had to do 8 of them because they were the character on the first page. It was pretty easy asking 5 questions to 8 people without it being on the book. I learnt that whenever you ask questions it sometimes has to be in the book or not in the book. I learnt this by going on the Matilda follow ups and choosing what is the easiest and what is the hardest. I also learnt that you have to choose the easiest activity or stuff to do first. I enjoyed asking questions on a google slide.
