Week 4 | Day 5 | Activity 3: Concluding The Journey

This activity was sadly the last activity of the Summer Learning Journey program for 2019-2020. For this last activity, we reflected our experience of SLJ this year. I have really enjoyed the Summer Learning Journey program this year. It has been a really great time completing the activities to gain knowledge. Thank you Summer Learning Journey for providing us with these activities. I hope you have a great holiday! 

Week 4 | Day 5 | Activity 2: En Pointe

To me, this quote from Albert Einstein, means to always believe in yourself to achieve your dreams. It also means, anyone who doesn't think you will achieve anything you have to just ignore it, still believe in yourself and try hard to achieve it.

For this activity, we were asked to chose out of 25 inspirational quotes and create a text graphic. The quote that I have chosen was from Albert Einstein, which is about achieving dreams. This activity was based on a ballerina called Misty Copeland, who started ballet when she was 13 years old, unlike other girls who start at the age of 3 or 4. In 2015, Misty became the first African, American lead dancer of the American Ballet Theatre. 

Week 4 | Day 5 | Activity 1: The World of Hip Hop

The Royal Family Performance Review: In my opinion the Royal Family performance was awesome and fantastic. It was very intricate which was amazing. All the performers were working together as a group, and must've practised many times. I didn't see any mistakes or struggles in this performance. There wasn't anything that I didn't like. It was all amazing. Something that stood out in the performance were there costumes. It was neon, bright and suited their choreography and the music. They have definitely deserved the NZ Mega crew 1st place award in 2019.

This week for day 5, activity 1 of week 4 for SLJ, we were asked to write a review about the Royal Family performance. First we watched a video of the Royal Family's award winning performance. Then we wrote our review. In our review, we included what we liked about their performance, what the dance crew did well, what they could work on and what we didn't like. We also talked about the dance, dancers, costumes and the music. This activity was based on Parris Goebel, who is a very famous dancer from New Zealand. When Parris was little she loved to dance. She started a girls crew called ReQuest and won a lot of 1st place awards. Later Paris started the Palace Dance studio crew and created 5 more other crews.

Week 4 | Day 1 | Activity 3: The Diary Of Anne Frank

This week for day 1, activity 3 of week 4 for SLJ, we were asked to write a diary about an event or something made up. My diary is something that is true, but was a trip my family and I went to last year instead of today. I decided to write a diary about my trip to the Rotorua Skyline. This activity was based on Anne Frank, who was forced with her family to hide in World War ll, because the German politicians didn't like Jewish people. They stayed there for 2 years.

Week 4 | Day 1 | Activity 1: Rags To Riches

This week for day 1, activity 1 of week 4 for SLJ, we designed a book cover for our favourite book. We thought about the title, author, illustrator, picture, colours and more things on a book cover. My favourite book is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. This activity was based on J.K. Rowling. J.K. Rowling is a British author who has wrote a series of books, like Harry Potter.

Week 4 | Day 1 | Activity 2: Romeo & Juliet

This week for day 1, activity 2 of week 4 for SLJ, we were asked to write a morning recount and to turn it into Shakespearean language. This activity was based on William Shakespeare, who was an author, poet and playwriter. He was known for creating plays he wrote in the 16th century in England. For this activity, we wrote our morning recount and used a Shakespearean tool to translate our recount.
