Counting Kakahi

LI: To identify keywords from a text. This week for reading we had to read a article called Counting Kakahi. We only had to read the first page. We read Counting Kakahi on a google slide. Once we read the first page we had to make a copy of the concept star that was on the LS1 site. Once we made a copy we had to answer the boxes. The questions we had to answer was how do kakahi feed, what things are needed for kakahi to reproduce, what method of counting kakahi sounds like the most fun to you, what did Hannah find out and do you think caring for the waterways will help kakahi thrive and why. Once we did the concept star we had to make a copy of the keywords and reminders DLO. For the keywords and reminders we had to write down the text, the text type, the author, the purpose, the keywords and the reminders. We did the keywords and reminders to help us write a blog post. Counting Kakahi is about a person named Hannah Rainforth who wanted to find out about Kakahi. Kakahi are freshwater mussels. Hannah find out a lot of things about Kakahi, like how kakahi dissapeared at Whanganui River. She also found out 2 methods which are the visual searches and the hand searches. For the visual searches Hannah had to use a bucket with a clear bottom and for the hand searches Hannah used her hands to find out the kakahi numbers.
