Week 3 | Day 2 | Activity 1: Through Careful Observation
This week for day 2, activity 1 of week 3 for SLJ, we wrote a description about a piece of art. This was based on scientists and theorists who came up with theory ideas. For this activity we decided between two pieces of arts to write a description on, which were the Starry Night or a day and night piece of art. I decided to create a description about the Starry Night art.

Hello Sakina!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading and ovserving the work that you have completed. I also did this activity but I picked the other choice because I am familiar with the Starry Night painting. I like your discription of the painting. I like it mainly because you used discriptive words to add detail to the discription. Did you find this activity hard?
Good Job Sakina!
Kia Ora Sakina! This is another really good blog posts of yours. "The Starry Night" is a really interesting painting and very well known, it was a good choice. I also enjoyed your description and words you used to describe what you see. Did you know that Vincent painted "Starry Night" from a room in the mental asylum at Saint-Remy? I'd like to hear about any interesting facts you might've heard about the painting!
ReplyDeleteThe Starry Night is an oil on canvas by the Dutch post-impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh. Painted in June 1889, it describes the view from the east-facing window of his asylum room at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, just before sunrise, with the addition of an ideal village. It has been in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City since 1941, acquired through the Lillie P. Bliss Bequest. Regarded as among Van Gogh's finest works,The Starry Night is one of the most recognized paintings in the history of Western culture. I saw it in 2005 when I visited New York. Keep blogging Sakina, and commenting on others, to increase your chance of winning one of the awesome prizes and to keep your learning up over the school break!

ReplyDeleteHey Sakina,
ReplyDeleteYou've made some great observations here and you vocabulary is really top-notch. I had to google what chromatic meant and so I learned something new today, so thanks. Then I spend a while looking at all the cool picture google produced for chromatic swirls. Where did you learn the word?
I think the most interesting thing I've had with the activity is that lots of students have thought the thing in the foreground is a twisting tower or a giant tree and all sorts of other things. I really like your description of a tree with a flame form, very evocative.
Great stuff Sakina. See you in the comments.
Daniel :)
Hey Sakina!
ReplyDeleteGreat Job on this activity! I think you have done a great job because it was nicely detailed. Good luck for the results of the SLJ!
Hi Sakina,
ReplyDeleteI think that you have done a great job describing the piece of art created by Vincent van Gogh. I also liked this painting and thought that it must have taken a lot of time and effort to create. Did you like the look of the painting? Keep up the good work.
