This week for day 2, activity 1 of week 2 for SLJ, we wrote a journal entry about life in prison, as Nelson Mandela. We imagined that we were Nelson Mandela in prison and we were given a journal to write in. We wrote our journal entry and daily schedules of being in prison. We watched a video of Nelson Mandela in Robben Island prison.
Hi Sakina...I really like the narrative you shared about Nelson Mandela - what did you learn about him and his situation that you didn't know before! Keep blogging, and commenting on others, to increase your chance of winning one of the awesome prizes and to keep up your learning over the school break!
ReplyDeleteKia ora Sakina,
ReplyDeleteHopefully you have been able to spare some time to leave some helpful comments on other SLJ student blog posts to gain some extra points!
I really liked your journal entry because you were able to capture a lot of emotions through your words and you painted a really clear picture of what prison life might have been for Nelson Mandela. I also appreciate your use of simple, complex and compound sentences which is really great to use in pieces of writing. I wonder how the guards might have treated people that was the same colour as Nelson Mandela during those times?
Your activities/blog posts are always such a pleasure to read through Sakina, ka pai!

Hello Sakina! I loved reading this journal entry you wrote about Nelson Mandela. It's pretty difficult to put yourself in someone else shoes, but you were really able to make this perspective into your own! I like the extra detail, and use of words to describe what it might've been like for him. Outstanding blog-post!

ReplyDeleteHi Sakina,
ReplyDeleteI liked how you describe everything, from how you felt about things, what ate for breakfast and what you do with lots of detail. I also liked how you said that you pray to get out of the prison and back to your family every night. Did you find this activity easy or hard to complete?
