Week 2 | Day 4 | Activity 1: Guiding Principles
This week for day 4, activity 1 of week 2 for SLJ, we learnt about whakataukī. A whakataukī is a proverb or a metaphor. We looked through whakataukī's and chose one that had a meaning to us. We created a poster of the whakataukī we chose and at least one image. This is the whakataukī I chose, because it is rousing in a great way.

...be the best YOU can be! That's my whakatau Sakina.Keep blogging, and commenting on others, to increase your chance of winning one of the awesome prizes and to keep up your learning over the school break!
ReplyDeleteKia Ora Sakina! This is a beautiful whakatauki. You have a really good understanding of the activity, and what a whakatauki is. In more detail, what does this whakatauki mean to YOU? And I'd love to know why this one spoke to you specifically...Well done!
ReplyDeleteMalo e lelei Sakina,
ReplyDeleteJust a gentle reminder that the Manaiakalani cluster team and I are in the middle of going through your blog posts and tallying up points at the moment. While we do that don't forget, now that you've finished the programme, you can earn many more bonus points and help encourage other students to finish the SLJ programme by leaving thoughtful comments on other students' SLJ related blog posts!
In terms of your blog post, I really dig that you have included the Maori translation of your whakataukī! I think that the whakataukī that you chose is amazing and is so relevant to everyone’s lives. I like to think that my strengths are only strengths because of my family and my ancestors and the legacy that they have left for me and my siblings. Education is something that my family and ancestors have always prioritised and I appreciate that because I believe that is the reason that I enjoy learning so much and challenging myself with new ideas and information. What are some strengths or gifts and talents that you think your family or ancestors have contributed to?
I really enjoyed the layout of your blog post, another eye-catching post from you! Great mahi Sakina :)
Malo,
Mani
Hi Sakina,
ReplyDeleteI liked how you said that you chose that whakatauki because you find it rousing in a great way. I also liked how you explained what a whakatauki is, and what the one that you chose means. Do you know any other relate able whakatauki?
