Week 3 | Day 5 | Activity 3: Choose Your Own

Madam C.J. Walker: Madam C.J. Walker was born on the 23rd of December 1867 and died on the 25th of May 1919. She was a famous person who created a business of hair products. She went door to door and sold her hair products which was very successful. In her 30s she began to experience a scalp disease which made her loose her hair. She experimented with hair care products to help her hair grow and improve with her scalp, which created the business. Madam C.J Walker has had an impact on other people's lives, by creating hair care products for others which was a successful thing.

This week for day 5, activity 3 of week 3 for SLJ, we were asked to choose someone who we thought has changed the world and has had a positive impact on other people's lives. I chose Madam C.J. Walker, who had created successful hair care products. For this activity we included a description of the work they have done and and explanation of how their work has had a positive impact on other people's lives.

I have learnt a lot from your post. I did not know about this person. She certainly started a big change in everyones lives. When you go into the supermarket now there are a large number of shelves with a varied number of products just for your hair. Well done with this and your other recent posts.

  3. There is a series on NETFLIX called Self Made: Inspired By The Life Of Madam C.J. Walker. Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer stars as the titular character in the series, which marks the first time Walker’s inspiring story of becoming America’s first black female self-made millionaire will be captured on screen...you have now given me a context for the series - thankyou Sakina! Keep blogging, and commenting on others, to increase your chance of winning one of the awesome prizes and to keep up your learning over the school break!
