This year at school I've been very responsible because I've been helping some of my classmates who are struggling in maths and also in writing.In math I am able to work out addition, subtraction, muliplication problems and more.For writing I am able to use puntuation marks like commas,full stops,speech marks,question marks,exlamation marks and appostrphe marks.In reading my teacher is happy that I can figure a word out by re-reading the sentence or by trying to find a clue.

At home I have helped clean up,wipe the dishes,do the laundry,help prepare meals and take out the trash.I also helped mum learn how to read and write things on dad's working book.

So therefor I think you should consider buying me one christmas gift from my christmas list

Scavenger Hunt Challenge

Yesterday morning Rm 5 had a scavenger hunt challenge.We had to get into groups of 5.We had the scavenger hunt at school.We did this challenge because we had to learn how to work collaboratively.The people that was in my team was Giovanni,Claudia,Pua and Viliami.We had 45 mins to do all the activities.We had a sheet that had all the activities on.

The first activity we did was making a daisy chain by the park.We had to try again and again because it was hard to make,but Jane helped us make it.Next we had to measure the width of the netball court.We had to use our bodys to make it.We worked together as a team to see how long the width was.When we got to the end of the court we had 11m.After that 1 person had to do the cartwheel.I managed to do the carwheel at the netball court.I had to do the cartwheel because my teamates couldn´t do it.Giovanni had to take the photo because Claudia,Viliami and Pua couldn´t do it proply.Then we had to find a Oblong shape on one of the school buildings.We found a Oblong at LS1.Afterwards we had to make a letter or a number.We chooses the letter L.We did it at the court.We only needed 3 people to make it.Finally we had to take a group selfie.We did it at the colourful wall.Once we finished taking a photo we had to run around the netball court 2 times.Jane was seeing if anyone was cheating.

We then had 5 mins to go back to class.There was 3 groups at class.1 more group had to come.I felt worn out because we had to do a lot of activities.

      Charmaine,Victoria,Sakina went to the zoo.They saw 7 giraffes,10 lions,24 spider monkeys and 9     elephants. How many animals did they see altogether?

I will use the UPS strategy to work it out.

My Balloon Adventure

Up,up,up I went high into the blue sky.Balloons were carrying me like a hot air balloon.I could see  all of N.Z and feel like an excited puppy.If I could choose a place to go I would choose Australia.I would go at 3:30 pm at Saturday because I don’t need to go school.I would meet my cousins because we could go shopping and travel to places like Sydney.I could prank random people when it’s April Fools Day. I would swim,sleep early,play with my cousins,draw and watch tv as long as I want.I would do all these things because I’ve always dreamt about doing all those things in Australia and sometimes I wish my dreams would come true.

Mythical Narative-Unicorn and Pegasus

Once upon a time there lived a unicorn named Fiona and a pegasus called Ivy.They lived together in a colorful forest.The unicorn was friendly and kind but the pegasus was scared of many things. In the forest lived many scary creatures.

When they were sleeping  an evil witch called Camila put a net over Fiona.Camila took Fiona to her home and waited until she woke up.Fiona woke up and found  herself inside a net.

“Help! Somebody help,”Fiona shouts.”Oh no!you again.Your the filthy witch who killed my mother.”

“Stop talking or I’ll put you in a cage,”Camila bellowed.

Camila got sick and tired of Fiona talking so she put her into a cage.

“I have an idea. I will make a potion for you so you can have a double horn and no one will save you,”Camila said.

“Someone will save me,”Fiona chats back.

When Ivy woke up she found out that Fiona wasn’t there.

“The potion is done,”Camila says  in a evil voice.

Camila offered the potion to Fiona but she didn’t drink it so the witch opened Fiona’s mouth and put the soup into her mouth. After 10 minutes Fiona had grown 2 horns.

“Help!!”Fiona screamed loudly.

Ivy heard Fiona’s voice.She ran to look around again but there wasn’t anyone there.Fiona tried to use her powers to break out  but the cage was too strong. Fiona also used her powers to take away her double horn and it worked.

Ivy thought about going to Camila’s house.She came to Camila’s house and found out that Fiona was stuck in a cage.While Camila was taking a nap Ivy walked to Camila and carefully took the keys off her.She opened the cage and took Fiona out.

“Thank you so much Ivy,”Fiona whispered.

“Let’s get out before Camila wakes up,”Ivy says quietly.

“First we have to put Camila inside the cage,”Fiona whispers.

Fiona and Ivy went back home and played together.

When Camila woke up she was stuck in the cage.

“Help!!”Camila belowed.

Summary of Animals' Wishes

At the start of the story there was a maker who created animals and gave them wishes.Then the maker gave wishes to the rabbit because he was good .After that there was a rude owl who interrupted the maker from giving the rabbit its wishes.The maker got really angry so he gave the rude owl wishes but it wasn’t the wishes that the rude owl wanted.Finally the rabbit got sad because the maker didn’t finish off the rabbit's front legs so he could run fast.

Today I learnt how to do a Summary.I had to tell you about the begining,middle and the end.The story I did was Animals' Wishes.

Today I went on prototec.I went on stage 5 for the first time.I thought stage 5 was hard but it actually wasn't that hard.I really liked going on stage 5.

The park (FW)

When I went the park I see tall trees.I see the slide is stuck on the tree some kids playing on the park.I hear babies crying because they want a lot of food.I feel leaves falling on my head and trees tickling me.I smell the fresh air and people putting on perfume.I taste people’s yuck medicine..I also saw a lot of people going on the swings and the slides.The slide was slimy like slime.Some kids were building sand castles,but one person rowened the sand castle.Some people were sitting on the bench because they were tired.One tree wad taller than the other 2 trees.There was a lot of kids that wanted to go on the swings.There was a big as bench.The sand felt cold and smooth.I went to the bushes because I wanted to spy on the people.I saw shoes on the slide.So I got it and tried to find that person who lost there shoes.I found the girls shoes.Then I gave the shoes to the girl called Emma.

The Polar bear (FW)

It was a snowy day.A polar bear wanted to be someone’s friend.Me and my friends Victoria,Charmaine and Marie went to Antarctica because in New Zealand there wasn’t any snow, so we went to Antarctica.We wore heaps of clothes because it would be very cold.So we went there and there was an polar bear so we all tried to hide behind something. The polar bear would talk.He said can I be your friend I don’t have anyone to be my friend.We all said ok.We all went on the polar bears back one at a time.Then we all got some snow and made it into a ball.We went behind the polar bear and throwed snow at him.Victoria went on the polar bears back and lead her somewhere.Me,Charmaine and Marie went with Victoria.The polar bear lead us to a igloo.He said to come inside so we don’t get cold.It was warm inside it.After we slept for a while we went back to New Zealand.We said goodbye to the polar bear.Polar bear said goodbye back.We missed polar bear.

My strategy to solve this problem

26+?=70

                                / \    /\

                 20+6+4=30 30+40=70

I will expand the 26 into  a 20+6.  The 6 ones will need 4 ones to make ten. 6+4=10.
So 20 + 10 makes 30.  

30 needs 40 more to get to 70. The answer will be 4+40=44

26+44=70

Today I was learning how to solve a problem. It was really easy.  

               

  

Tamaki River

Emily and I arrived at the Tamaki River full of excitment.It was a bright sunny afternoon and the water was calm.There were birds tweeting for food.Fishermen on their boats were going to catch fish for the family.I felt the cool breeze brushing my face.

Emily was looking at a butterfly when she fell into the river.Splash! “Oh no! I knew Emily wasn’t a good swimmer.I quickly ran to find some empty milk bottles.I threw the milk bottles to her and told her to kick her legs. She finally made it out of the river.

While we were walking back home I told her to go and get swimming lessons so that she knows how to save herself if it happens again.

Today I was learning how to write a narrative that did more showing then telling.It was quite hard .

Moari language week/Measurment

LI:I am learning to draw a rhombus to put 5 Maori words that I want to learn for Maori language week.For Maori language week my 5 Maori words are:

• Kia ora (Hello)
• Raapa (Wednesday)
• Rahina (Monday)
• Ratu (Tuesday)
• Haere-ra (Goodbye)

I think it’s a good idea to learn Maori words because it will help you learn different language and if there is a Maori person who talks to you only in Maori you can talk to them back in Maori.

Today I was making a Maori kite.I had to put in 5 maori words.

Orienteering

LI:I am learning to read a map to help me find the controls. This term I learnt orienteering.On the map there was a code of numbers and letters.Beside each letter was a clue to help me find the controls. 
 Self Reflection:I don’t think I read the map properly all the time. I just tried to find any control and not read the map.I kept on running to a control to see if the letter on my map was there.I only read the map when there was a code for trees.I sometimes told Ireen or Leon to help me find letters are.I looked around everywhere to find the controls I wanted,but it wasn’t the right one on the map.Next time I do orienteering I will remember to point the map North and find the control by reading the map.

Lost Island (FW)

1 week ago my best friends Victoria,Charmaine,Florence and I went to the Lost island where no one had been before. We packed our things and went on dad’s ship.It was far but we could see it.From far away I thought it was small but it was big when we got there.It looked amazing.Victoria purred like a cat that the sand was soft when she touched it.The trees were pretty and big.I went to look at the trees. My friends left me when I went to explore the island.Then I got lost.I tried to find a way back but I couldn’t.I saw pirates coming my way. I whispered,” Can you help me find a way back.”They answered yes.They led me back to my friends.The trees on the island were unusual. We were exited to that we had made the trip here.I found treasure and brought it to my friends. It was heavy.We opened the treasure and there was an enormous amount of money inside.We shared the money.We put on our togs and went swimming.I saw 4 dolphins.I yelled out to my friends to come and see them. We all went on one dolphin and swam with it. The place was uncrowded.Then went on the ship and headed back home.We wern’t that hungry because in the morning we had heaps of food.Once we got home I told my family that I found money and I would share it with them.My family and I went to Lost island and see the place and look for more treasures so we could buy a new house.
