Summer Learning Journey|Weird & Wonderful

LI: To solve a maths problem. This week for day 2, activity 2 of week 1, we solved a maths problem. The maths problem was to keep a cactus alive, you have to give it 3ml of water everyday. Over a year, how much water will you need to give your cactus plant?. First you have to count how many days in a whole year. There are 365 days in a year. After that you have to multipy 3 and 365. 3 x 365 = 1095, which means that over a year you have to give your cactus plant 1095ml of water.  This activity was worth 10 points. I enjoyed solving this maths problem.

  1. Kia Ora Sakina,

Well done on completing the first maths problem to be included in the the Summer Learning Journey. Well done on finding out the correct amount to water the cactus! Did you like doing a maths problem this year? We decided to add some maths in so it wasn’t just literacy activities. My favourite subject to teach is maths so I am enjoying reading how different students solved the question. How did you manage to work out such a large number?

I look forward to hearing how you solved the maths problem :)

    Blog ya later,

    Dani
