Summer Learning Journey|Going, going....gone|Life In New Zealand In 2018
Photo by Nzwj (CC BY-SA 3.0)
New Zealand is a country that has really nice nature. There are a lot of structures builders worked hard on. There are around 4.794 million people in New Zealand. Life in New Zealand is just amazing and nice and simple. Its mostly sunny and cloudy. On sunny and cloudy days my family and I would mostly go to the beach. The beaches are really nice. Most beaches has calm waves. We would go shopping, go to restaurants and more. You can learn about lots of things in New Zealand. Many different cultures, religions and more are accepted in New Zealand for who they are. I would never leave New Zealand, because it is a lovely place.
LI: To post people a description of life in New Zealand in 2018. This week for day 5, activity 3 of week 1 of Summer Learning Journey, we had to post a description about life in New Zealand in 2018. We could add images that were attributed. Since there were people that haven't been to New Zealand, we had to paint a picture using words. This activity was worth 10 points.
Summer Learning Journey|Living On The Edge|Letter To Cousin
Dear Farzana,
Are you having fun, because I am. It's really cold, dry and treeless around here. I've been seeing some animals I didn't know existed. They look amazing. There are a lot of animals that have been migrating and hibernating. The animals here have small tails and ears, which helps them to loose the heat in the coldness. Some of the animals change their coats/colours into white, so that they can blend into winter. Did you know that Tundra comes from a Finnish word tunturi. This actually means barren land. The plants here grow together, so they can be safe/protected from the winds which are icy. Thank you for reading this letter.
Your Sincerely
Sakina.
LI: To write a letter to a family member or a friend about your experience at Tundra. This week for day 5, activity 2 of week 1 of Summer Learning Journey, we had to write a letter to your best friend or a family member. I decided to write a letter to my cousin, Farzana. This activity was worth 4 points. I had a lot of fun writing a letter about my experience.

LI: To tell whether we should allow logging in New Zealand or not. This week for day 5, activity 1 of week 1 of Summer Learning Journey, we had to tell people whether we should allow logging in New Zealand or not and why. I don't think that we should allow logging native trees in New Zealand. My first reason is that the animals wouldn't have anywhere to live, so they have to find new homes. My other reason is that it can ruin our home/environment. This activity was worth 4 points.

LI: To solve a maths problem. This week for day 2, activity 2 of week 1, we solved a maths problem. The maths problem was to keep a cactus alive, you have to give it 3ml of water everyday. Over a year, how much water will you need to give your cactus plant?. First you have to count how many days in a whole year. There are 365 days in a year. After that you have to multipy 3 and 365. 3 x 365 = 1095, which means that over a year you have to give your cactus plant 1095ml of water. This activity was worth 10 points. We went on two sites that had lists of idioms. We could do as many idioms as we wanted to. An example of an idiom is as busy as a bee which means very busy.
