Shops in person & online

LI: To identify retail outlets and their online equivalents for consumer goods. This week for cybersmart we had to make a DLO about shops where you can shop in person and online. The DLO that I made was a google draw. I decided to add two vertical lines and one horizontal line at the top, so I could write down title for each box. I found some of the shops on the search engine and some I already knew. I had fun writing down some shops and sites on the google draw.

Website Review

LI: To summarise a text using keywords. This week for reading we had to make a website review about a information report we read called follow your food. First we had to make a copy of a google doc. Then we had to read follow your food. My group and I had to choose 5 sections and write down the keywords on the google doc. Then we had to sum it up. For the keyword google doc we had to write down the the text, the text type, the author, the purpose, the keywords and the reminder. We had to do the keywords and reminder for the website review. Once we finished doing the keywords and reminder we had to make a video about the website review about the information report we read.

Nutrition-Tasks

This week for inquiry we had to finish off our compulsory tasks. My group and I finished our compulsory task and we are now doing the elective tasks. The compulsory task that we finished this week was the explanation, the Venn diagram the word ring. My group and I have fifteen points. We got a point for the explanation and the word ring, but we got 2 points for the Venn diagram. We could either get one point or two points. If we have five points we can buy a question and answer with Mr. Wong and Mr. Ogilvie, but if we get ten points we can buy a question where we can write down a question that only our group knows. I had a lot of fun finishing all the compulsory tasks with my group. My group and I just need to finish off the elective tasks.

Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa

This week we had Samoan Language Week in LS2. First we had to get into partners. My partner was Hajera. Then we had to find another pair and work with then. Since Hajera and I couldn't find anyone we decided to work with Sila. Once we found a group we needed to make a DLO about Samoa. We decided to make a google slide. We had to choose a Samoa tradition and had write down information about it. My group and I decided to do the Samoan flag and the Samoan coat of arms. We had to use our smart searching skills to find information about the flag and the coat of arms.  If we wanted to add photos, videos or gift on our google slide we had to attribute it. Once we did this task we did another task. For this task we had to make a google slide and choose a samoan language to do like the months of the year in Samoa. My group and I chose to do the days of the week in Samoa. We had to record us saying the days of the week. We could either go to LS3 or LS1. My group and I decided to go to LS1. Some of us had to present our DLO. I had a lot of fun doing Samoan language week.

Volume & Capacity

LI: To find out the volume and capacity of two items. This week for maths we had to find out the volume and capacity of two items. First we had to make a copy of a google draw. Then we had to pick two items that Mr. Ogilvie brought. Then we had to measure the volume. For the volume we had to use measuring tools to find out the volume. For the volume we used water. Before doing the volume we had to estimate how much milli litres it will be or litres. Once we did the volume we had to measure the capacity using a ruler. For the capacity we had to measure the height, width and depth. After we had to multiply the numbers we got and write it down. Once we finished finding out the volume and capacity we had to make a flipgrid about the what volume is and what capacity is. We also had to give an example using one of the containers we used.
Here is the link to my flipgrid- Flipgrid Volume & Capacity

Venus fly trap Explanation

LI: To write detail paragraphs. This week for writing we had to write a detailed explanation about Venus fly traps. First we had to make a copy of a Venus fly trap explanation that Mr. Wong did for an example. We had to rewrite the explanation. We had to have more than three sentences in each paragraph. I had to look for sites and watched two videos about venus fly traps. To write a paragraph you need to have a statement, a explanation and a ending. There is a screenshot of an example of pargraphs. Writing a explanation about venus fly traps was kind of hard and easy at the same time. I had a lot of fun writing a full explanation.

Kiwi Sport

This week for Rippa rugby we had Mr. Haymish. First we had to wear a belt and a tag. The first game we played was rippa rush. For rippa rush there was two taggers. Everyone else had to try and get to the other side of the court. The taggers had to rip everyone else's tags. If someone's tag got ripped they had to be a tagger and take other people's tag off. All of the taggers could move. We had 2 rounds of this game. Once we played this game we played a game of rippa rugby. Mr. Haymish put us into 3 groups. One group had to watch the other teams play. For rippa rugby we had to run with the ball and try and get it to the other side. Then we had to put the ball on the ground. The other team who didn't have the ball had to try and rip the person with the ball's tag off. The person with the ball had to pass the ball to one of their teamates. We switched over with the team that was watching. Once we finished playing this game we practise passing backwards. Half of our team had to go on the other side of us. We had to pass the ball backwards to the person next to us. Once we practised we played another game of rippa rugby. This time we had to pass backwards if someone ripped our tag off. If our rips didn't come off we could pass it forwards of backwards. I had a lot of fun playing rippa rugby. We said bye to Mr. Haymish and went back to class.

Kiwi Can

This week for kiwi can we had Ms. Lily and Mr. Matt. Our topic was Role models and our theme was still Integrity. First we played a game called Bang. For bang we had to get into a circle. Someone had to go in the middle. They had to call out someone's name. The person's name who got called out had to bob down. The two people that was next to the person who bobbed down had to say bang to the other person. We had to pretend that our hands were guns. If someone said bang before the other person, the other person had to sit down. We had practise rounds and 2 rounds. The two people that was left had to face back to back. There was a magic word. The person in the middle had to say a sentence. Once the person said the magic word, the two people had to face each other and say bang. Once we played this game we sat on the mat and talked about role models and integrity. Then we played another game called tutti frutti. For tutti frutti we had to get into a circle again. We had to face the right side. Every time Mr. Matt said apple we had to hop forward, every time he said orange we had to hop backwards and every time he said banana we had to switch to the other side. If we did it wrong we had to sit down in the middle of the circle. We had some practise rounds and 2 or 3 rounds. After that we did GKQ/ General Knowledge Question. For GKQ we had to sit down and make a circle. Ms. Lily chose a master. The master had to go around everyone. Ms. Lily had to ask questions. The person who answered correctly had to be the master. Integrity is when you do the right thing when no one is looking. Role Models are when you encorage people, help people and more.

Commenting

This week for commenting I decided to comment on Mojtaba's blog. The blog post that I commented on was Earthworm's Digestive System. I think that Mojtaba did a fantastic job at writing a 18 sentence explanation. I really liked the way Mojtaba explained what he did and how he added a DLO of the task that he did. I just wanted to know if Mojtaba found it hard to write a 18 sentence explanation. I had a lot of fun commenting on Mojtaba's blog. Here is the link- Mojtaba's blog

Kiwi Sport

This week we had Rippa rugby outside on the court with Mr. Haymish. First we had to get a belt and two tags to put on the sides of our belts. Once we did that we played a game called everybody's it. For everybody's it all of us had to try and steal the tags off other peoples belts. Once we steal it we had to put it on our belts. If both of our tags were gone we had to steal it from other people. We couldn't play hard on each there. Once we finished playing this game we played another game called rat and rabbits. We all had to face our partners and make a line. Instead of Mr. Haymish calling out rats and rabbits we played colours. One line was the colour orange and the other was the colour yellow. We still had our belts and tags on. Mr. Haymish had to say orange or yellow. If Mr. Haymish said orange, the orange team had to face the other way around and go to the cones that was near the hoop. The other team had to try and get the other teams tags before they go to the cones. Once we played this game we played Rippa rush, For Rippa rush Mr. Haymish chose 2 people to be in. He chose Sione T and Victoria. For this game the rest of us had to try and get to the other side. The taggers had to try and steal the other peoples tags off. If Mr. Haymish said people who are wearing shoes people who were wearing shoes had to run to the other side. When we finished playing this activity we played the last activity. For this activity Mr. Haymish put us into 3 equal teams. 1 team had to sit and watch the other teams play. One team had to wear bibs. One team had the ball. They had to try and get it to the other side. The other team had to rip the person's tag who had the ball. My team won 4, 5, or 6 times.

18 Sentence Explanation

LI: To write an 18 sentence explanation/LI: To write basic paragraphs. This week for writing we had to write an 18 sentence explanation. First we had to watch a video about a earthworm's digestive system. Once we watched the video we had to make a copy of a explanation planner. Once we made a copy we had to write down what each step of the digestive system does. We had to include the title, the introduction and the conclusion too. The seven steps of a earthworm's digestive system is the mouth, pharynx, oesophagus, crop, gizzard, intestine and the anus. Mr. Wong did the mouth for the explanation planner. Each group had to work together to make sentences for only the pharynx. We had to have two sentences for the introduction, the seven steps and the conclusion, so that our explanation could be a 18 sentence explanation. For each two sentences we had to have a statement and a explanation.

Counting Kakahi

LI: To identify keywords from a text. This week for reading we had to read a article called Counting Kakahi. We only had to read the first page. We read Counting Kakahi on a google slide. Once we read the first page we had to make a copy of the concept star that was on the LS1 site. Once we made a copy we had to answer the boxes. The questions we had to answer was how do kakahi feed, what things are needed for kakahi to reproduce, what method of counting kakahi sounds like the most fun to you, what did Hannah find out and do you think caring for the waterways will help kakahi thrive and why. Once we did the concept star we had to make a copy of the keywords and reminders DLO. For the keywords and reminders we had to write down the text, the text type, the author, the purpose, the keywords and the reminders. We did the keywords and reminders to help us write a blog post. Counting Kakahi is about a person named Hannah Rainforth who wanted to find out about Kakahi. Kakahi are freshwater mussels. Hannah find out a lot of things about Kakahi, like how kakahi dissapeared at Whanganui River. She also found out 2 methods which are the visual searches and the hand searches. For the visual searches Hannah had to use a bucket with a clear bottom and for the hand searches Hannah used her hands to find out the kakahi numbers.

Kiwi Can

This week for kiwi can we had Ms. Lily and Mr. Matt. Our theme is still Integrity, but our topic is Role models. First we played Doggy Doggy. For doggy doggy we got split into a group of boys and a group of girls. We had to get into groups of four. There was two chairs. Someone had to sit on a chair and wear a blindfold. The person on the chair was the doggy. They had a pool noodle and there was a pen between their feet. The rest of us had to try and get the pen. The doggy had to try and stop the people from getting the pen. The doggy had to swing the pool noodle to keep the pen safe. If we got tagged by the pool noodle we had to go back to the whiteboard. We couldn't get the pen by going behind the chair or going to the side. Once we finished playing this game we sat down and told Mr. Matt and Ms. Lily what a good role model is. After that we played another game called Who's missing. For who's missing we all had to lie down and close our eyes. Mr. Matt or Ms. Lily had to touch someone. The person who got touched had to go to another room. The rest of us had to guess who was missing. We only had 3 guesses and we couldn't cheat.

Volume and Capacity

LI: To find out the capacity and the volume of two items. This week for maths we had to measure two items and find out the capacity and the volume. The items that I picked was a lunch box and a box. If we wanted to we could work in pairs or we could work by our selves. I decided to work with Farzana. We had to make a copy of a google draw that was on the LS1 site. Before measuring the items we had to estimate and find out how many cm3 the items are. We then had to measure the items we chose around LS1. For the items we had to measure the height, the width and the depth. Once we measured the items we had to multiply it. If we didn't know how to multiply the height, width and depth we had to use the technique that Mr. Ogilvie showed us. Once we finished the capacity we moved on to the volume. For the volume we had to find out how many things that are the same could fit into the items we chose.

Maori

This week for Maori we had to fix our pepeha's. First we got a sheet of paper from Whiaodie. The sheet of paper had 4 circle faces. On the sheet of paper we needed to draw emojis of angry, good, cold and hot. For the good emoji we had to write down Kei te pai, for the cold emoji we had to write down Kei te makariri, for the angry emoji we had to write down Kei te riri and for the hot emoji we had to write down Kei te wera. Once we drew the emojis we had to translate a Maori song that Whiaodie wrote on the whiteboard. We had to go on Maori dictionary to find out the translation. We also had to sing the song. When we finished singing the song and translating it we had to fix our Maori pepeha's that we did last week.

Smart Searching Skills

LI: To use keywords to search for information suitable for the purpose and reading level. This week for cybersmart we had to use our smart searching skills to search for information to complete one of the inquiry tasks. First we had to find out how venus fly traps show sensitivity. We did this with Mr. Wong. We had to get into our inquiry groups and write down keywords to find out how venus fly traps show sensitivity. We had to tell Mr. Wong the sites we found about the venus fly traps. Once we did that we had to make a DLO. I decided to make a google draw. For the google draw we had to take a screenshot of the search results and we also had to record the keywords.

Kiwi Sport

This week for kiwi sport we had rippa rugby. Our coach for rippa rugby was Mr. Haymish. First Mr. Haymish put is into 3 groups of equal people. One group had to sit on the stage. The other groups had to vs each other. One group had to wear a bib and the other didn't. For this game one group had to start with the ball. There was cones on each side of the hall. 1 person could start with the ball. The person with the ball couldn't move. The person with the ball could pass it to their teammate. The other group had to try and catch the ball when the person with the ball passed to someone. The person with the ball had to try and get the ball to the other side. Once the person with the ball was on the other side they had to try and put the ball on the ground near the cone. Since there was 3 teams we had to swap. One team had to go on the stage and the others had to verse each other. Once we finished playing this round we couldn't move with the ball anymore. We had to pass the ball  to other people to get the ball to the other side. When we finished playing this round if someone had the ball the other person in a different team could touch the person with the ball with 2 hands, so that the person with the ball could pass the ball to their teammate. When we finished playing this game Mr. Haymish told us that we had to improve on our passing, so we had to make 3 lines in our team. We had to spread out. The person at the front of the line had to have the ball. The person with the ball had to pass it to the person next to them. We had to try and get to the other side by passing the ball. The person who got it to the other side won. When we finished practising we sat on the ground and said goodbye to Mr. Haymish.

Measurement

LI: To make estimates of lengths and areas. This week for maths we had to measure 4 items, estimate it convert it. First we had to choose 4 items to measure. For the items we had to measure it in miler metres, centre metres and metres. The items that I chose was the space button, a dictionary book, the floor ( the bench to the lino) and the white board. Before we measured the items we had to estimate the items (guess). Then we had to measure it. To measure the items I used the ruler, the metre ruler and the wheelie ruler. Once we measured the items we had to convert it. If we didn't know how to convert the items we had to use the place value house. Mr. Ogilvie showed us how to do the conversion. This maths task was kind of hard to do.

10 Sentence Explanation

LI: To compare explanations with information reports. This week for writing we had to write a ten sentence explanation about how aluminium cans are made. First Mr. Wong gave did examples of a ten sentence explanation and a information report. The explanation and the information report was about how Venus fly traps work and facts about Venus fly traps. Once Mr. Wong showed us the examples we had to watch a video about how aluminium cans are made .We then had to make a copy of a google doc. We needed to write down the planning.  For the google doc we had to write down a ten sentence explanation about how aluminium cans are made. We needed to include the title, the introduction, the explanation and the conclusion. We did a ten sentence explanation because last week when we did a full explanation about the nervous system, our explanations turned out to be a information report. A explanation and a information report is different from each other because a explanation tells people about how something works and why it happens and a information report tells people about facts about a subject.

Compulsory Tasks

LI: To know information about Sensitivity is. LI: To finish the compulsory tasks. This week for inquiry we had to finish off our compulsory tasks. We also had to know what Sensitivity is. My group name is Sea Lions. In my group I have Alice, Sandra, Lorenzo and Akuhata. My group finished 2 of the Compulsory tasks. The compulsory tasks that we finished was the Venn Diagram and the Song Lyrics. For the Venn Diagram we had to compare the human nervous system to another animals nervous system. We had to make a copy of the Venn Diagram. For the song lyrics we had to watch a video called Ice Ice baby ( nervous system remix). Once we watched the video we had to make a DLO and write down a list of scientific and technical words. Then we had to write down the meaning. Every time we finish a compulsory task we either get 0 points, 1 point or 2 points. If we finish all of the compulsory tasks we get to do the Elective tasks.

Keyword List

LI:To identify keywords from a text. This week for reading we had to make a copy of a google doc and write down keywords of a book about the nervous system. First we needed to choose a library book about the nervous system. Then we choose a text and read it. After that we had to make a copy of a google doc. Once we did that we had to write down the keywords of the text we read. For our google doc we had to include the text of the book, the text type, the author of the book, the purpose, the keywords and the reminders of the keywords. I read the text that I chose again to get the keywords. We got the books about the nervous system from last week. I decided to write down the keywords and the reminders for two of the text.

Kiwi Can

This week for kiwi can we had Ms. Lily. Our theme for this week was integrity and our topic was making good choices. First we had to get into four groups of equal people. Then we played a game called clap. For clap everyone had to clap when Ms. Lily crossed her arms and opened her arms. If Ms. Lily was about to cross her arms we couldn't clap. If we did clap we had to sit down. We had two or three practise rounds and three rounds. Once we played this game we had to get into a circle and tell Ms. Lily some good choices to make and some bad choices to make. After that Ms. Lily split us into two groups of equal people. We then went to the school court. For this game we one group had to stand on one of the sides and the other group had to stand on the other side. We had to spread out. There was some balls in the middle. There was also one hula hoop for each team. Each team needed to choose one Jedi. The Jedi had to go in the hula hoop, wear a bib and hold a pool noodle. For this game everyone except for the Jedi had to get the balls and try to hit the other team and the Jedi. If someone got hit by a ball, they had to sit down and wait for the Jedi to touch the person with the pool noodle, so that the person who got hit by a ball could stand up and start hitting other people with the ball. If the Jedi go hit by the other team. That team would win. We had a lot of fun playing this game. We could only play for one round because it was the morning tea bell. Once we finished playing this game we said goodbye and went back to class. Our chant is making good choices is not a test, making good choices is for the best.

Explanation- Nervous System

LI: To plan and write an explanation. LI: To write an introduction and conclusion appropriate for an explanation. This week for writing we had to make an explanation about the nervous system. First we had to make a copy of a google doc that was on the LS1 site. The google doc was our planning for our explanation. For the planning we had to write down the title, the introduction, the explanation and the conclusion. For the introduction, explanation and conclusion we had to answer some questions and write it down. Once we finished doing the planning we had to write the explanation below the planning. For our explanation we could use our structure and language features from last week to help us. This explanation I wrote was hard for me, so I will practise writing explanations to get better.

Image result for rippa rugby

This week for Rippa rugby we had Mr. Ogilvie. We needed  to get into pairs. I was with Sandra. We numbered ourselves 1 or 2. I was 1 and Sandra was 2. The 1's wore a bib. We all had to go to the field. First we played every body's it. For everybody's it everyone was in. We needed to try and tag each other. If you got tagged you had to sit down. If you tag someone at the same time you had to do rock, paper, scissors shoot. Whoever lost had to sit down. The last person standing was the winner. Once we finished playing this game we played another game. For this game the non bibs was the taggers. The taggers had 2 balls. They had to try and tag the non bibs with the ball. The person with the ball couldn't move, so they had to pass the ball to one of their team members. People who got tagged by the ball had to go to Mr. Ogilvie. The non bibs had to try and get lots of people out in 2 minutes. The non bibs got 3 people out in 2 minutes. For the next round it was the bibs turn to try and get lots of people out. We got 7 people in 2 minutes. When we finished playing this game we had to get into 2 lines. 1 line was the non bibs and the other line was the bibs. Each team had 2 balls. We had to pass the ball to each other and try to get it to a bib that was on the ground. We could only pass the ball backwards. We spread out to put the ball on the bib. Once we put the ball on the bib we had to sit down to see who won. Once we finished playing that game we went back to class.

Nervous System

LI: To search for research materials appropriate for our reading level. This week for reading we had to find books about the nervous system and we also had to make a DLO about the Nervous System. First we had tell Mr. Wong what we had to do to find books about the nervous system. We had to find a library book, a school journal, a internet text and a video. Once we finished telling Mr. Wong what we had to do and what we needed to do to help us find the books, we went to the school library and the school journal book room and found some books. Once we found some books we went back to class and had to find a internet text and a video.  When we finished finding a internet text and a video we had to make a DLO or a flipgrid about the nervous system. In the DLO I decided to include what our challenge was, what a nerve is, what do nerves do, how do nerves work, how we found the library books, how we found the school journals, how I found the internet text and how I find a video.

The Divider

LI: To split division problems into parts using known multiplication and division facts. This week for maths we had to make a DLO about solving a division equation on the divider. First we had to go on the divider and choose a equation to solve. Then we had to take pictures of the equation we solved and solving it. Once we did that we had to make a DLO. The DLO that I made was a google slide. For the google slide I added the steps to how to solve a division equation that I did and I added in the question we had to answer. The equation that I did was 152 divided by 8. I had to split 152 to solve this equation. This equation was easy to solve. The divider is a maths game where you can choose a division equation and solve it. You can split numbers to solve the equation you chose to do. On the left there is times tables you can look at to help you solve the equation. If the equation your doing is too hard you can press on new number on the left.

This week for kiwi sport we had our teacher Mr. Ogilvie. For kiwi sport we have rippa rugby, but Mr. Ogilvie changed it to football this week, because he wanted the people who joined for football to practise. First we had to get into groups of 4. I was with Sandra, Sila and Ellenora. One person from each group had to get a ball. We all had to make a square somewhere in the field. We had to pass the ball each other using our feet. Once we did that we could only touch the ball 2 times and then pass to someone. When we finished doing that someone in our group had to be in the middle. The person in the middle had to wear a bib. The person with the bib had to try and get the ball of the person who had to the ball. The rest of us had to pass the ball to each other. We could move around if we wanted to. If the person in the middle got the ball off someone, the person who touched the ball last had to wear the bib and go in the middle. Once we finished doing that we got split into 2 teams. One team was the bibs and the other team was the non bibs. One team was on one side of the field and the other team was on the other side of the field. For this game Mr. Ogilvie had to say a number. If he said 4, 4 people from each team had to go to the middle and kick the ball to the goal. No one could be the goal keeper for this round. I was in the non bibs team. When we were doing the last round Mr. Ogilvie called out everyone so we all ran to the ball and kicked it or tried to get it off the person who had the ball. When I was trying to get the ball I fell on the ground. I got back up and played. When we finished playing this game we went back to class.

7 Life Processes

LI: To learn about the 7 characteristics of living organisms. This week for inquiry we had to make a DLO about the 7 life processes which is Movement, Respiration, Sensitivity, Growth, Reproduce, Excretion and Nutrition. A short name for the 7 life processes is MRS. GREN. First we watched a video about the 7 characteristics and what it means. We then had to get into pairs or groups of 3. I worked with Farzana and Victoria. Once we got into pairs and groups we had to make a google slide. We had to write the 7 characteristics and what it is. We went on some sites to find out what the 7 life processes is. Farzana and I decided to do 2 of the life processes and Victoria decided to do 3 of the life processes. Farzana did Excretion and Sensitivity, Victoria did Reproduce, Movement and Growth and I did Respiration and Nutrition. In our google slide we had to have photos for each characteristics. I learnt about the 7 life processes and what it is.

Smart Commenting

LI: To write positive, thoughtful and helpful comments. This week for cyber smart we had to comment on 3 peoples blogs. First we sat on the mat and learnt about positive, thoughtful and helpful comments. We had to give some examples we could comment. We used Juel's blog to give examples we could comment. Once we did that the teacher put our names on the board and chose 2 people's blog for us to comment on. We all could choose 1 person to comment on. We had to comment on 2 or 3 people's blogs. I had to comment on Alayah's blog, Andrew's blog and Florence's blog. In a comment we had to have a greeting, making connections, something that you liked about someone's blog, questions and something nice at the end like Keep up the good work. I had a lot of fun commenting on Alayah's blog, Andrew's blog and Florence's blog.

Translating Maori Words to English

LI: To translate Maori words to English using the google translator and the Maori dictionary. This week for Maori we had to make a DLO on translating Maori words to English. Our teacher we had for Maori was Whiaodi. First Whiaodi did the role. Then we learnt a new song. We sang the song a few times. Once we finished singing the song we had to make a google sheet or a google doc. I decided to do a google doc. In our google doc we had to make a table of 2 x 20. For the DLO we had to write down the Maori words that was on Whiaodi's laptop. We had to write down the Maori words on one side. Then we had to go on google translator and the Maori dictionary to find out what the Maori words is in English. Sometimes google translate lies, so I went on the Maori dictionary to double check. Once we found out what the Maori words are on English, we had to write it down on the other side. Whiaodi went to everyone and told people to say some Maori words. Once we finished doing the task that Whiaodi told us, we had to find out the a Maori word in English.

Kiwi Can

This week for kiwi can we had Ms. Lily and Mr. Matt. Our theme for this week is Integrity and our topic is making good choices. We had to make 3 groups of equal people. First we did a energiser. The energiser that we played was 21. For 21 we had to get into a circle. We needed a ball to play this. We had to pass the ball to each other and count up to 21. If someone had the ball and we just finished counting to 21 the person with the ball had to sit down. For this game we couldn't throw the ball we had to pass it. Once we finished playing this game we had to sit on the mat in our 3 lines. We talked about Integrity and making good choices. We had to tell Mr. Matt and Ms. Lily what Integrity is and examples of making good choices and examples of making bad choices. Once we talked about Integrity and making good choices we played another game called Terminator Tag. For Terminator Tag everyone was in. We had to try and tag each other. If you get tagged by someone you had to sit down. When the person who tagged you got tagged you could stand up and keep playing. If you tag someone and the other person tags you at the same time you have to do rock paper scissors. Once we finished playing this game we sat on the mat and did GKQ/General Knowledge Questions. We had to sit down in a circle. Once we finished doing GKQ we said goodbye to the Kiwi Can leaders and went back to class. Our chant is- Kiwi Can says good choices isn't a test, good choices are made by the best.

Type of Text & Purposes

LI: To assess Author's Purpose and determine the reliability of information given in the text. This week for reading we had to make a DLO about the type of text and the purposes. First we had to make a DLO. We all had to do this task on a google slide. Then we had to read 4 text that was on different sites. The sites is Food and Nutrition, Healthpost: Childrens health products, Eat Healthy Be Healthy and Smile! and Kidspot: Kitchen. We had to read one at a time. Then we had to choose which type of text go with each site. The type of text is Procedural, Explanation, Information Report, Narrative, Persuasive and a Recount. We had to do it with all of the sites. For our DLO we needed to have what type of text it is, what is the purpose of this text, who is the target audience and is this source of information reliable for learning about healthy food and eating. We also had to have a video recording of us speaking or we could have a audio. I decided to add in the type of text and what it means. I learnt about the type of text and what it means.

The Multiplier

LI: To solve a multiplication equation using The Multiplier. This week for maths we had to go on a multiplication site called The Multiplier. We had to solve a multiplication equation that had a 2 digit number and a 1 digit number. For The Multiplier I decided to do 83 x 6. I had to try and use strategies to solve this equation. I decided to split the equation into 83 x 3 and 83 x 3. To solve 83 x 3 I multiplied 3 and 3 which is 9. Then I multiplied 30 and 8 which is 240. After that I added 240 and 9 together which is 249. Since I solved on of the equations I don't need to solve the other because I split the 83 x 6 into 83 x 3 and 83 x 3. Then I added 249 and 249. 249 + 249 = 498. 83 x 6 = 498. I used The Multiplier by picking a multiplication equation and splitting it to solve the equation. The number that I used in the problem was 83 x 6. I split the equation by splitting the 6 into 3 and 3. Then I did 83 x 3 and 83 x 3. I split the numbers because it will be more easier to solve the equation. The easiest way to split up the numbers was to split the 6 into 3 and 3 and then multiplying it with 83 two times. I could show this equation in a diagram by telling people the steps on how to solve a equation.

Explanation- Structure & Language Features

LI: To identify an explanation text through its features. This week for writing we had to make a DLO about the explanation structure and language features. First we had to get into 4 groups of 6 people. Then we had to get 3 pieces of paper. 1 piece of paper had a recount called Friday's Child, the other piece of paper had a explanation called How ants find their way and the other piece of paper had a Venn diagram on. In my group I had Farzana, Matthew, Oscar, Liane and Alayah. We had to read the recount and explanation. Then we had to write down the differences and the similarity on the Venn diagram. We had to have the titles on the Venn diagram. Once we did that we had to sit on the mat and tell Mr. Wong the differences and the similarity. Once we did that we had to make our own DLO and write down the structure & language features of a explanation and we had to write down what explanation means. For the DLO I did a  I decided to add a image for my DLO.
