Today for reading we had to make a copy of our task. After we did that we had to write down what, where, when, who, why and how for the duck overboard. We also had to write keywords from the title, keywords from sub headings, new words I need to look up and we had to write down a 25 or less summary about the duck overboard. I learnt to identify the main ideas in a text.

Commenting

For another must do task I had to comment on someones work.I think that Lukah did a lot of work on his fractions. The thing I liked about his fractions is that he had the meaning of the fractions. I really liked the way we had something in common. This was quite easy. I only did half a smart comment because I forgot about some of the smart commenting things.

LI: To know what translation, reflection and what rotation means and how to work it out
This week for maths I learnt what translation, reflection and what rotation means and how to work it out on a paper grid. I had to do translation, reflection and rotation on my maths book because it has grids on it. You could also write it on a pixel art paper. I learnt this by going on the class site and checking what the task for maths is. I also learnt this by going on 2 videos to check what translation, reflection and what rotation means. The other video was about how to work out translation, reflection and how to work out rotation. This task really hard, but I kind of go it now.

LI: To know what influence means and how people get influenced
This week for inquiry I learnt to know what influence means and how people get influenced. For this task I had to choose a partner and make a copy of the task we had to do. I was working with Florence. After I made a copy I had to send it to Florence. Once I did that we had to answer questions. The first question was What do the images in the following six movie poster have in common?. The other question was What do you think the effect of these images on people was?. There was posters on them and had to ask the questions about them. I learnt this by going on the class site and looking at what the task is.

Raz Kids

This book is about a girl named Taba. Her land was poor and people were struggling to put food on their tables. They also struggled by putting clothing on their backs. One day Taba was tending the goats on a high hill side above the village. Then suddenly the wind swirled around Taba. The wind then began to to her. The wind said I have come to fulfill your wishes. The wind saw how Taba helped people do things. Taba was a little frightened. The wind gave Taba 2 wishes. The first thing she wished for was crops to feed her people. The last thing she wished for was for warm rains to help the crops grow and to bring water to the villages. When the day ended Taba took the goats back to the village. When it was morning crops started to fall down the sky. Taba couldn't believe her eyes. Crops were growing everywhere. Then the wind came back and told Taba what about your wish that you want. Taba said you don't need to give me a wish. Taba then hugged the wind.

We don’t think there is a catch phrase but we will make one up…. Music Music in my ear, Come and listen with me. SInging with fear knowing you can mess up

What message is the advertisement trying to say about the product?

People that wanna listen better can buy  headphones.

How does the language or image used grab the reader’s attention?

A group of orchestras in someone's ear.

LI: To recognize and understand the purpose of advertising (persuasive) language features
This week for writing the task was to finish of 7 advertisement posters, but one of them was an example. There was some questions I had to answer. I had to get into a pair of a group of 3. After we finished answering all the questions we had to choose the one we like the most and blog it on our blog. My group and I liked the group of men playing orchestra's in a ear. The poster was weird and I haven't seen it before. This was pretty easy, fun and weird because some of the posters were super weird and funny.

NZ History

Today Mr Ogilvie's reading groups and I went upstairs to do some reading group work. We went upstairs because we had the same reading  as Ms Anderson's reading  groups. For this activity I learnt to get into pairs or groups of 3 and go on NZ history to find some facts that was in the past. I also learnt to skim, scan and take notes. The partners I was with was Victoria and Nyjah. One thing I mostly learnt was to not copy the NZ history facts I was to make sure that I had to write the facts I learnt in my own words by skimming and scanning the information to find the important . I learnt this by going on NZ History and looking for facts then writing it on a big piece of paper. 

The questions my group and I thought of was- Why did men let women vote?

                       Why did the States of Australia offer the New Zealanders to join them? Why did NZ say no? Why did Francis Henry be prime minister of NZ for 2 weeks? Who allowed people to vote secretly?
