LS1 Minute to Win it Olympics

Yesterday on Thursday LS1 and I had a minute to win it Olympics in the hall. We had a lot of practise in the last few weeks. Mr. Ogilvie and Mr. Wong chose 6 minute to win it activities. The activities that Mr. Ogilvie and Mr. Wong chose was Back Flip, Flotacious, Bit Dicey, Stack Attack, This Blows and Ready Spaghetti. We needed to fill out a google sheet that had the activities and our team names. We had to choose which minute to win it activities we were doing. Chris chose Ready Spaghetti and Back Flip, Farzana chose Ready Spaghetti and Flotacious, Victoria chose Bit Dicey, Jordan chose Stack Attack and I chose This Blows. For some of the weeks we had to make a emblem, motto, whakatauki and we had to choose music. Our motto is Teamwork + Knowledge = Power, our whakatauki is Work as a team, Improve as a team, Co-operate as a team and work together. Our music that we chose was Thunder. When we went into the hall to do our minute to win it Olympics we had to sit in chairs. When I did This Blows I got 23 seconds. Farzana couldn't do Flotacious in 60 seconds, Chris got 6 pencil in 60 seconds for Back Flip, Victoria got 43 seconds for Bit Dicey, Jordan couldn't do Stack Attack in 60 seconds and Chris and Farzana got 1 can for Ready Spaghetti. Victoria got our team the gold medal and Farzana and Chris got us the bronze medal. I think that the LS1 minute to win it Olympics was really awesome and fun. Even though I didn't win a medal I still tried. I wanted to show people the things that I could do.

Information about Anpanman

LI: To priortise task and collaborate to complete a job on time. This week for cybersmart we had to make a DLO about Anpanman or Doraemon. First we had to get into groups of 4 or 5. I worked with Farzana, Pua, Florence and Afatia. Then we had to make a google docs. For the google docs we had to make a planning. We had to write down who was doing each question on the LS1 site. Once we did that we had to show the teacher. After that we had to make a DLO about Anpanman or Doraemon. The character that we chose was Anpanman. The DLO that we did was a google slide. For the google slide we had to find out what Anpanman is, what his skills are, who is his friends, what they believe in, what is his main goal, who invented him, when was his first appearance and what was the first medium they appeared in. We had to use the searching skills to find out things about Anpanman. We had to make sure we had photos and video for our google slide. We collaborated because we all helped each other and we talked to each other on how to finish the DLO more quickly. We prioritised because we made a google doc of which question is most important.

Subtraction Equations & Maths Game

LI: Using the standard written form to solve addition and subtraction problems. LI: Carry out column addition and subtraction with the whole numbers of up to four digits. This week for maths we had to make a screen castify about how to play a maths game that we learnt from Mr. Ogilvie. For our screen castify we had to make a DLO and show how to play the game. For the DLO I decided to do a google draw. Once we did that we had to make a DLO showing how to solve subtraction equation. The DLO that I did was a google draw.  There was 3 subtraction equations that we had to do. One of the equation had decimals. We had to solve the subtraction equations in standard written form. I had a lot of fun solving subtraction equation and learning a new game.

Personal Recount- Zombies

LI: To write a recount using skills learnt this term. This week for writing we had to write a personal recount about a game we played outside. First we went outside and played a new game that Mr. Wong taught us. Then we went back inside and started writing our recount. We had to make a copy of a recount planner. For our recount planning we had to write down the reveal which has who, what, where, when and why, the events and the ending. For the ending we had to make sure we had a personal reflection. Once we did our recount planning we had to write down our recount at the bottom. We had to make sure we had TREE which is Title, Reveal, Events and Ending. When we finished writing our recount we had to copy our recount and put it on our writing journey. Once we did that we had to write down the date, the writing purpose and the writing focus. I had a lot of fun writing a recount about a game that we played.

Commonwealth Games

LI: To create a DLO showing information about the Commonwealth games. This week for inquiry we had to make a DLO about the Commonwealth games. First we had to find information about the Commonwealth games. We needed to use our smart searching skills to find out information. The things that we had to find was a map of where the Commonwealth games is, how far it is from Panmure Bridge school, how many countries are competing, the motto and logo for this years game, information on 3 New Zealand medallists, who the 3 medallists are, what sports they do, what was their winning time and who Sophie Pascoe is. For the DLO we decided to do a google draw. For the google draw we had to make sure our print design rules were good. The print design rules are text, colour, composition and layout. We had to show our DLO to Mr. Wong, so he could check if the print design rules were good. I think that the LS1 minute to win it Olympics is really fun because we get to learn new minute to win it activities every week this term.

LI: To identify the differences in meaning between common homophones. This week for writing we had to watch a video about homophones. Homophones is when words sound the same, but there spelt differently and they have a different meaning to each other. Once we watched the video we had to tell the teacher the homophones we saw in the video and we had to tell the teacher other homophones that we could think of. When we finished telling the teacher homophones we had to make a copy of a google slide. The google slide had different kind of homophones. For this writing task we had to find picture for homophones that was already written. We also had to make a sentence that had the words and we had to attribute the images that we found. There was a example for us to see. We had to do 18 homophones. We had to think of our own for 3 of the homophones.

Commenting

This week for commenting I decided to comment on Alisha's blog. The post that commented on was Kiwi Can. I think that Alisha did a fantastic job at writing a blog post about kiwi can. I really liked the way Alisha made his own L.I. I also like the way he explained what he learnt and how he learnt it. I just wanted to know if Alisha had fun at kiwi can and I also wanted to know the games that he played at kiwi can. I had a lot of fun commenting on Alisha's blog. Here is the link- Alisha's blog

Kiwi Sport

This week for softball we had Mr. Ogilvie. The first activity that we played was called scatter ball. First we had to get into partners. My partner was Farzana. We had to choose a number- 1 or 2. The people who chose number one was the batters and the people who chose number 2 was the fielders. For this game the fielders had to wear a glove and the batters had to hit the ball that was pitched. The batters partner had to pitch the ball to the batter. We all had a chance of pitching the ball to our partner and we also had a chance of batting the ball. For the pitching we had to do l, k, rock star and we had to flick the ball. For the batting our little knuckles had to be alined, The batt had to be on our shoulder and our legs had to be width apart from our shoulders. Once the batters hit the ball they had to go to each cone. We didn't use bases because we didn't have any, so we used cones. The fielders had to try and catch the ball once it's been hit. Once we finished playing this activity we played a different game. For this game we stayed in the same team. We had to throw 3 balls as far as we could. We could throw it anywhere we wanted to throw it. The fielders had to catch all three balls and pass it to Mr Ogilvie. The person who threw the balls had to run to each cone and back.

Kiwi Can

This week for kiwi can we had Mr Matt and Ms Lily. Our theme was positive relationships and our topic was conflict/ resolution. First we had to get into 4 groups of equal people. Then we told Mr Matt and Ms Lily what our topic is and what it means. Conflict is having a argument with other people and Resolution is solving the problem. The first game that we played was called create me. For create me Ms Lily put us into 5 teams of 5 or 6 people. Ms Lily and Mr Matt had to tell us what we should create like a motorbike. We had to create whatever Ms Lily and Mr Matt told us to create. Everyone had to be included. We had 1 practise round and 1 or 2 rounds. Once we finished playing this game we went outside on the concrete to play stuck in the mud. For stuck in the mud we all had to line up on the yellow line. There had to be 2 taggers. The people who wasn't the taggers had to run to the other side. The taggers had to try and tag the people who wasn't taggers. If you got tagged you had to freeze. We only played a little because it started to rain. We had to go back to class. We had plenty of time left, so we played bang. For bang we had to get into a circle. There had to be someone in the middle. The person who was in the middle had to call someone's name. The person who's name was called had to bob down. The person that was beside them had to say bang and pretend that their hand was a gun. The person who said bang first won. The other person who said it slow had to sit down. We had 1 practise round and 1 or 2 rounds. When we finished playing this game we had to get back to our four lines. We had to stand up and say kiwi can says kay see shoo. Once we said it we did the shoot challenge. For the shoot challenge we had to put 1 arm up and down, flick 1 leg and jump with the other leg. At the end we went back to class.

ABAN Whakatauki

Li: To create a team whakatauki. This week for inquiry we had to make a team whakatauki. First we had to make a google draw. Then we moved onto making the whakatauki. My team name is ABAN. Next week we are going to do a competition of the mini LS1 Olympics.  In the google draw we had to have our whakatauki, our emblem and our motto. We had to find a song for the entrance next week. The song had to be 20 seconds. If the song was more than 20 seconds Mr Ogilvie could cut the song that we wanted up to 20 seconds. Our whakatauki is Work as a team, Improve as a team, Co-operate as a team, We strive together. It represents that if we strive we have to work as a team, improve together and to co-operate together.
