Adding Fractions
LI: To add and subtract fractions with like and unlike denominators. This week for maths we had to show how to add fractions with like and unlike denominators. To show it I decided to make a google slide. For the google slide I showed how to add fractions with the same denominator and different denominators. The fractions that I used was 3/4 + 2/4 and 2/4 + 4/6. I added a explanation on how to add fractions.

Kiwi Can
This week for kiwi can we had Mr. Matt and Ms. Lily. Our topic was Goal Settings and our theme was Resilience. First we did a energiser called Snatch. For Snatch we all got a tag. We had to put it on our pocket and leave a little bit out. Then we had to snatch other people's tags and hold on to it. If someone got your tag you had to sit down, but if you and someone take each other's tag at the same time you are both out. If your tag comes out by itself you are out. The last person standing was the winner. We played this a couple of times. After we played Snatch we had to tell Mr. Matt and Ms. Lily some small and big goals. Once we did that we played relay. We had to get into pairs. One girl and one boy. I decided to go with Giovanni. Mr. Matt put us into two lines. The two lines were the teams. We had to leave some space in the middle. One pair from team one and one pair from team two had to put a ball behind their backs and they had to try and get to the side and back. The first pair to do that got one point for their team. We all had a turn with our partners. Mr. Matt told us to put the ball somewhere else like put the ball on your necks. Team two won this game. After that we sat in our four lines. We did our chant and went back to class.

Multiplying a Fraction Animation
LI: To find fractions of whole number amounts using multiplication and division. This week for maths we had to create a animation that shows how to multiply a fraction. We had to choose a fraction and a number to multiply the fraction. I decided to go with 4/5 x 12. To multiply a fraction you only multiply the numerator with the number you chose to multiply. For the animation we could write sentences of what to do. I decided to show how to multiply a fraction two ways.
Manaiakalani Film Festival Planner
LI: To write a quick narrative for the Manaiakalani Film Festival. This week for writing we had to write a narrative for the Manaiakalani Film Festival. First we watched a parody. Then we had to get into groups of 3. I decided to be with Florence and Bella. After that one of us made a copy of a google doc and we started writing the narrative. Before writing the narrative we had to write one sentence on the left hand side of the google docs. We had to write down the orientation, the events and the solution. We only had 10 minutes to do that. We forgot to brainstorm, so we had 5 minutes to do that. Then we had to write the narrative that was detailed and we had to include dialogue. We only had 15 minutes. We also had to write down the title. The narrative had to be about the LS1 Olympics and it had to be parody. This task was fun to do, but it was hard because altogether we only had 30 minutes to write the narrative. My group and I didn't complete the narrative. At the top is the narrative draft.

Swimming- YMCA Pools
This week for kiwi sport we had swimming at the YMCA pools. We travelled to YMCA pools on the bus. There was four teachers. Karlos, Pua and I were with two women. First we got swimming boards. Then we swam to the platform with the boards. We had to make sure we kicked our feet fast and we had to face our face in the pool. One woman told us to make our legs straight and to not kick our feet high. Once we finished with the boards we had to go back to the platform, put our hands together, put them high and put our hands behind our ears. Then we had to swim. We had to keep our hands together and kick to the other platform. We did that a few times. After that we swam, but this time we had to kick our feet and our hands had to go in circles. We had to swim to the other platform. We also did that a few times. Once we did that we could swim however we liked. When we finished swimming however we liked one of the lady's threw 9 toys. We each had to swim and get 3 each. They sank to the bottom, so we had to swim down and get all 3 of them. After we did it again, but we this time we had to get one each. We highfived the two ladies and then we got out of the pool and went to change into our uniform. After we went back to school,

Smart Media- What Is Media?
LI: To identify what media is. This week for cybersmart we had to make a copy of a google slide. First we got into groups of three or pairs. In my group I had Sandra and Alice. Then we made a copy of a google slide. In the google slide we had to write down what media is, create a definition of media, create a detailed definition of media, media that our class has used and our own media that we have used. There was two videos to help us create the definition. Media is a source of information for example the TV. Media is also when we communicate with each other on the internet, apps, in person and more. Some examples of media is the internet, devices, the TV, the radio and more. One of the media our class has used was a netbook and some of the media that I have used for the past 24 hours was a google doc, gmail and youtube.

Visualising & Questioning
LI: To visualise and question scenes in a book. This week for reading we had to visualise and question scenes in a book. First we got into partners. My partner was Sulia. Mr. Wong read two scenes from a book called The Revenge Of The Dragon Lady. Once he read two scenes we had to visualise the scenes and if we wanted we could add in questions. Once we did that we had make a copy of a google doc individually. Then we had to choose a book and visualise and question. For the google doc we had to include the book title, the scene location, the question, the answer, the answer location and the visualisation. Thor and Maleficient had to do two scenes and Percy Jackson and Harry Vader had to do three scenes. The books that I chose was Goosebumps, Goosebumps Revenge Of The Lawn Gnomes and A Series Of Unfortunate Events The Wide Window.

Duffy Theatre-The Cloakroom Bully
Yesterday on Tuesday we had Duffy theatre at the hall. There was three people who performed called Chantelle, Melanie and another person which was Duffy for the show. First we started off with Simon says. Instead of saying Simon says we did Duffy says. After that we moved on to the show. The show was about bullying. It was about Chantelle bullying Melanie by not letting Melanie compete in games or stealing her lunch, saying mean things to her and telling the teacher on her. Duffy didn't know that Chantelle was bullying Melanie. Chantelle and Duffy were playing soccer when Chantelle didn't let Melanie play. Duffy decided to help Melanie and gave her a book called The Halloween Bully because Melanie was having dreams about clown babies. The Halloween Bully was about a ghost who was saying mean puns to a skeleton. When Melanie read the book she wasn't scared of Chantelle anymore. Melanie decided to give the book to the bully Chantelle. Chantelle read the book and at the end of The Halloween Bully the ghost said sorry to the skeleton. Chantelle said sorry to Melanie and they decided to be friends. The show was awesome and it teached me a lesson to never bully anyone just because you have been bullied. At the end we all said bye to Chantelle, Melanie and Duffy.

ASB Getwise
This week we had ASB getwise with Jayden in the classroom. We learnt about saving money. We learnt about cash goals. Cash goals stands for clear, a stands for action, s stands for save and the h stands for how long. We also learnt about the two w's. It stands for when and where. Jayden chose three volunteers which was Sandra, Angelica and Matthew. They each got a book. We pretended that Sandra was a year 10, Angelica was a year 6 and Matthew was a year 6. They had to flip the book and on it, it showed a picture of where there money was saved. Sandra's was under her bed, Angelica's was in a box and Matthew's was in a bank. They all flipped the book again and it showed how much they saved. Matthew saved more because his money was in a bank. They flipped the book once more and there was cars. Sandra, Angelica and Matthew got to choose whether to save the money or buy the car. Sandra and Angelica chose to save the money and Matthew bought the money. After that we did cash goals. Jayden teached a lot on how to save money. At the end we said goodbye to Jayden. We got ASB bracelets.

The Silent Red Book|Dialogue & Monologue
LI: To write a narrative with dialogue. This week for writing we had to watch a narrative with no words. The narrative was called The Silent Red Book. Once we watch it we had to write a narrative for The Silent Red Book. We could only use dialogue and monologue. We also had to use third person. To write the narrative we had to make a DLO. I decided to use a google slide. I took screenshots of The Silent Red Book and put it as a background. Then I wrote the narrative. Dialogue is a conversation between two people or more and monologue is when someone is thinking. I had a lot of fun writing a narrative about a story that had no words.

Matariki Celebration
Yesterday on Wednesday we had a Matariki celebration with the whole school. We did the Matariki celebration in the juniors. We sat on the benches. First some teachers spoke. Then there were performances. The first performance was the senior kapa haka. They did some dances and they also sang some songs. After it was the junior kapa haka. They also did some dances and songs. Once it was junior kapa haka three boys from our school and Mr. Matt did the drums. Then it was the ukulele group. There was only three girls and Whai Odie who did the ukulele. After it was the pacifica group. Three men did the drums for the pacifica group. They were really good. I think all the performances were awesome and they all were brave to show their performances to the school. They also just started last term and are very good. They practised a lot for the Matariki Celebration. Once all the performances were done the juniors had to line up on the right and the seniors had to line up on the left. We all got sausages. The vegetarians had to go to the kitchen to get sausages. I had to go to the kitchen because I am vegetarian. We had to get bread and Whai Odie put a sausage on our bread. We put some tomato sauce on our sausage. I had two sausages because it was yummy. I had a lot of fun yesterday celebrating Matariki. Whai Odie thought of doing the Matariki celebration and I think that Whai Odie is a amazing Maori teacher.
