Minute To Win It Mini Olympics Recap
This week for inquiry we had to make a DLO showing how to play the minute to win it activities, the results that we got doing the challenges, a reflection about the minute to win it activities and steps we think that we need to practise as a team. In my team I have Farzana, Victoria, Chris and Jordan. Our group name is ABAN. First we had to practise the minute to win it activities. Then we moved on to doing the DLO. While we were doing the activities we had to take photos and videos of us doing the challenges. The challenges that we did was magic carpet ride, clipper, bit dicey and stack attack. Everyone who did stack attack failed last week, so we tried doing it again this week.

This week for softball we had Alison. The activity that we played today was called scatter ball. First we had to get into partners. Then we had to make 2 lines. One team was the fielders and the other team was the batters. For the first round my team was the fielders and the other team was the batters. For scatter ball Alison had to throw the ball to the batters, so the batters could hit the ball. The fielders had to try and catch the ball with their hands and put it on the cone. To catch it they had to get into monkeydile. Once the batters hit the ball they had to run to 1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base and back to home base. If a fielders caught the ball and put it on the cone they had to sit down near the teacher. Everyone had a turn of batting and fielding. We had 2 rounds of scatter ball. Once we finished playing this activity we played 4 corners. For 4 corners Alison was in the middle. Everyone else had to go to one of the bases. Alison had to count from 5 to 0. When Alison counted 0 she had to choose a base. If she chose home base everyone from home base had to sit down near the teacher. We had 2, 3 or 4 rounds of this activity. For some of the rounds we had to pick a animal and act like it without making a sound. Once we finished playing this activity we said goodbye to Alison and went back to class.

Commenting
This week for commenting I decided to comment on Lukah's blog. The post that I commented on was Lukah's Duffy Assembly. I think that Lukah did a fantastic job at doing the Duffy Assembly post. I really liked the way Lukah added a image of what he did and I also liked the way he explained what he did. One thing I really liked was that he wrote down what Tayla and Matt does. I just wanted to know if he had fun learning about Tayla and Matt. I had a lot of fun commenting on Lukah's blog. Here is the link- Lukah's blog

Kiwi Can
This week for kiwi can we had Ms Lily and Mr Matt. Our theme was still positive relationships. Our topic for this week is conflict resolution. First we had to get into 4 groups of even people. Then we moved on to our first activity. Our first activity was 21. For 21 we had to get into a circle. Someone had to hold a ball and pass it on to the person next to them. We kept passing the ball to each person who was next to them. Everyone had to count up to 21 slowly. Whenever we counted up to 21, the person with the ball had to sit down. We only had 2 practise rounds and 1 round. Once we finished playing this activity we moved on to the next activity. The activity that we played was Guess emotions. For this activity we had to get into our 4 lines and face the whiteboard. The person at the front had to stand up and face their team. Mr Matt would write a emotion on the whiteboard. The team members had to act out the emotion out to the person at the front. The person at the front had to try and guess the emotion. We couldn't cheat, we couldn't say the emotion to the person standing at the front and we couldn't talk. Teams that won rounds got a point. We only had 1 or 2 practise rounds and 8 rounds. Once we finished playing this activity we sat down in our lines and did GKQ/General Knowledge Questions. Our buzzer for GKQ was hello. Everyone had a turn of GKQ. At the end we said goodbye to Mr Matt and Ms Lily.
Self Monitoring
This week for reading we had to read news called Adam Hall wins gold at Paralympic games. First we had to partner up with someone from a different group. I decided to work with Florence. We then went on Kiwi Kid News and read about Adam Hall winning gold at Paralympic games. Once we read the news we had to tell each other what words we didn't know. The words that I didn't know was snared, slalom and penultimate. When we finished telling each other the words we didn't know we had to make a copy of a google doc that was on the LS1 site. We didn't share our partner the google docs, they had to make their own copy. After that we had to write down the title of the text, the text image, the words that we were stuck on, the strategy we used to find out what the words we didn't know meant and what the words mean. We had to use the fix up strategies to help us find the meaning of the words. The fix up strategies are re read, read ahead, find out what unknown words mean, stop and think, create a picture in your head, ask questions, make predictions, make connections, look at pictures, illustrations, charts and graphs and asking for help. Organising our Drives
LI: To organise our files correctly. This week for cybersmart we had to organise our drive by putting DLOs in folders we have. First we sat on the mat and told someone some of the folders and DLOs we have in our drive. Then we told the teacher the folders. The folders that I have is art, class blog, cybersmart, google photos, home learning, inquiry, LS1 2018 photos, maths, media, reading, screencastify and writing. After we told the teacher which DLO goes in one of the folders. Once we finished telling the teacher we had to partner up with someone. The year 6's had to partner up with a year 4 and the year 5's had to partner up with a year 5 that wasn't in LS1 last year. After that we organised our drive. If your drive is messy you can make folders and put all of your DLOs in the folders. You should organise your drive, so that if you have to go on a DLO you can press on the folder that you put your DLO in. If you don't organise your drive you will have to scroll down to find the DLO you want to go on.

Duffy Assembly
Today the whole school and I had Duffy assembly. We had it in the hall. We had a few guest to visit our school. Our guests were Tayla Hodson Tomokino, Matt Johnson and a lady that was from mainfreight. Tayla Hodson Tomokino and Matt Johnson told us what they do on the stage. They also told us some other cool things about their selves and they told us how reading makes you famous. When Tayla was young she used to be awesome a BMX rider. She won 4 awards in 4 years in a row. She was a champion at BMX and she was the 2nd best at the international BMX. Tayla is now a accountant, a interviewer and a commentator. Tayla played touch rugby because she wanted to play other sports. Matt is a rugby players who plays for the blues. One of the hardest teams the Blues played against was Melbourne Storms. Tayla's future plans are to complete law and wants to help sport people with contractors. Tayla reads books about the law and rules about what she wants to do, so it can help her succeed. Matt's future plans are to be a P.E teacher. Matt will read books about rules of being a P.E teacher and other things about Matt's future plans. Tayla and Matt asked if we had questions for them to answer. I learnt a lot of interesting things about Tayla Hodson Tomokino and Matt Johnson. When Tayla and Matt finished talking, they handed out books to each class. After we went back to class and then Tayla and the lady from mainfreight visited LS1. We asked more questions, so we could get to know them more better. Tayla answered some questions. At the end Tayla and the lady from mainfreight handed out our books to us. I had a lot of fun learning about Tayla and Matt. I didn't even know that they played rugby and other things.

Kiwi Sport
This week for kiwi sport we had Ashley. First we played scatter ball. We had to get into 2 teams. One team was the batters and the other team was the fielders. For the first round my team was the batters and the other team was the fielders. For scatter ball the batters had to hit the ball by someone pitching at us. We could only have 3 tries of hitting the ball. If we missed we had to hit the ball by the t pole. The fielders had to spread around the bases. They had to wear gloves and try to catch the ball to get the batter out. Once the batter hit the ball they had to run to each base. There was a fielder at the back of the batter. The fielders had to throw the ball to the fielder. Once we finished playing the first round we swapped places. I had a lot of fun playing scatter ball. When we finished playing we made a circle and told Ashley what we had to do when pitching. Whenever we pitch we had to use l, k, flick and rock star.

LI: To monitor our understanding of a text by ourselves. This week for reading we had to make a poster about self monitoring. First we had to read a article. The article that my group and I read was called Water Worries. Then we had to choose 3 words that we got stuck on while reading the article. After that we had to write down the fix up strategies we used to find out the meanings of the words. The fix up strategies are re read, activating prior knowledge, making connections, looking up unknown words on a dictionary or on google, read ahead and asking someone if they know what the word you don't know means. I found out the meanings of the words by looking up the words I got stuck on google search.

Pixel Art
LI: To develop artistic and fine motor skills. This week for a daily 6 I decided to do pixel art. For pixel art I decided to do a love heart. I did pixel art because I wanted to get better at drawing on the lines. I also wanted to get better at it because I wanted to ave straight lines. I had to search up simple pixel art to find a design. I found this design online and copied it. Whenever I do pixel art it helps me make my lines more straight then I used to. I am not that good at making straight lines. This is how my pixel art turned out. I think it looks great.

Imaginative Recount
LI:To see if we have 3 first person, time connectives and past tense verbs. This week for writing we had to check our imaginative recount again. Then we had to comment on our writing and see if we have time connectives, past tense verbs and first person. The first person, past tense verbs and the time connectives were all part of structure & language. We had to find 3 of each. For time connectives I found 2 whens and one after. For first person I found 3 I's and for past tense verbs I found ripped, helped and flipped. For the comments we had to write down first person, past tense verbs and time connectives. If we wanted to comment on the google doc the had our writing on we had to highlight a word. Then there would be a comment button on the side, so we could comment.
Prior Knowledge Poster
LI: To activate prior knowledge about a topic before reading. This week for reading we had to make a poster about what prior knowledge is. We had to make a google draw. For the prior knowledge poster I tried to find 2 images about prior knowledge. I decided to write what prior knowledge is, how it helps us and more. I think that prior knowledge is a great reading strategy for everyone. For the images I decided to add 2 photos about prior knowledge. For this poster I just put in what I think what prior knowledge is. This was a easy activity to do.

This week for kiwi sport we had a new coach. Her name is Helena. First Helena split us into 2 groups. Then 1 group had to go to the second base and the other group had to go to the home base. After that we had to make a line. The line had to be boy, then girl. When Helena shouted out on your marks, get set, go the first person in both lines had to touch each base. They had to touch the home base, 1st base, 2nd base and the 3rd base. Then we had to go at the back of our group's line, so the next person could touch each base. After we finished playing this game we had to stand on a cone. There was cones lines up. One side of the cone had balls and the other side didn't have any balls. One group had to stand one one side of the cone and the other group had to stand on the other. Our partner's had to be someone from the other group. My partner was Mr. Ogilvie. We learnt how to pitch. The first thing we did was learning how to flick with the ball. The person with the ball had to flick the ball to their partner. We had turns flicking the ball to each other. After we practised flicking the ball to each other we learnt how to throw the ball. To throw the ball we had to put our throwing hand up like a l and we also had to put one leg and our other arm up like a k. Then we had to flick the ball and do the l and the k at the same time. When we were going to throw the ball to our partner we had to put or leg down. We had turns of throwing it to each other. After that we had a competition of throwing the ball to each other. Mr. Ogilive and I won because we throwed it to each other 50 times. If we didn't catch the ball we had to put our hands on our heads. At the end we said bye to Helena and went back to class.

Andy Warhol & Pop Art
LI: To find information about Andy Warhol and Pop Art. This week for inquiry we had to make a DLO show information about who Andy Warhol is and what pop art is. For this DLO we had to work in a group of 3. I decided to work with Farzana and Victoria. In our DLO we had to make sure to use the print design rules which are text, colour, composition and layout. The DLO we did was a google slide because we decided to put lots of information. The things that we included in our DLO was who is Andy Warhol, when Andy Warhol died, when he was born, what Andy Warhol did, where Andy Warhol was buried, why Andy Warhol painted Marilyn Monroe, how Andy Warhol died, what pop art is, Andy Warhol quotes, why Andy Warhol was popular, a painting of Marilyn Monroe, a painting of the Campbell's soup can, a painting of green coca-cola bottles and a painting of Seymour H. Knox. Andy Warhol did a lot of pop art painting. He is one of the most popular pop artist. Pop art stands for popular art.

Rounding up Numbers
LI: To learn how to round up numbers. This week for maths we had to make a DLO that shows how to solve equations by rounding them up. We could do a google draw or a google slide. I decided to do a google slide. For each slide I did 3, but for the last one I had to do a slide for it alone. The equations were on the board. My group and I had to round up 10 equations. Here is a example of how to do this strategy. For example if my equation was 9 + 4 I would first make a tidy 10 with the 9, so 9 + 1 = 10. Then I would takeaway 4 and 1, so 4 - 1 = 3. Now I add 10 and 4 together, so 10 + 3 = 13. The answer to 9 + 4 is 13. I had a lot of fun using this strategy to answer equations. It was really easy using this strategy to find the answer to equations.

Kiwi Can
This week we had kiwi can with Ms. Lily and Mr. Matt. First we had sit on the mat and tell our topic fearless and fearplay. We have a new theme for this week. The new theme for this week is leadership. The first activity we played was Hammer. We had to find a partner. My partner was Victoria. For this game we had to put our hands in the middle of us. Our hands had to be in a fist shape. One my hand had to be at the bottom and one of Victoria's hand had to be at the top. Our other hands had to be in between. If Ms. Lily said bottom the person's hand that was on the top and to put their hand on the bottom. If Ms. Lily said top the person's hand at the bottom had to be at the top and if Ms. Lily said hammers the person's hand that was on the top had to try and hit the person's hand that was under the person's hand at the top. If you loose you had to sit on the floor, but if you won you had to find a new partner that won and verse them. We played 3 rounds of this activity. The other game we played was called Copy me. This game was part of leadership. For this game we had to get into 3 lines Then we all had to face the whiteboard. After that Ms. Lily, Mr. Ogilive and Mr. Matt had to show a action to a group. They had to tell the first person in front of the line. When they told the person the action the other person had to do it. The first person had to tap on someone's shoulder that was next to them. We kept on going on. The person at the back had to do the action. After we finished playing the game we had to sit down on the mat and get into our 4 lines. Then we played GKQ/ General Knowledge questions. For this 1 group had to stand up. Then one of the teachers had to ask the group a question. If someone in the group knew the answer they had to say the buzzer and say the answer they think it is. Then the other groups did it to. Our buzzer was wolf, wolf. Our chant for this week is Leaders are fair, leaders are fun, leaders include, everyone.

What's in a blog post?
LI: To understand what a blog post is. This week for Cyber smart we had to write the things that is in a blog post. In a blog post we need a title, labels, a blurb and a DLO. For the blurb we had to write down what we learnt, how we learnt it, a learning intention and what we did. If you don't write these on a blurb and you only write down what we did people who view your blurb won't understand properly. A DLO shows the activity you did on your device. DLO stands for Digital Learning Object. If you did a activity on a DLO and didn't post it with your blurb the viewers won't be able to see the task you did on your device. If you don't have a title the viewers won't see what your post is about.
